Looking back at the second half, I thought it was interesting to scan through the play list. 7 total Elliot runs in the second half after a dominant 1st half.

With the lead, Elliot ran it twice on the opening drive of the 2nd half. 1st run was on a 2nd and 10 and gained 16 yards, the following 1st down play for went for -1 yard. Next drive, only a 1st down run for 2 yards. Next drive, only a 1st Down run for no gain. Next drive, only a 1st Down run for 1 yard. Next drive, only a 1st Down run for 5 yards (scored here). Last drive, hurry-up, a 3rd and 1 went for 6 yards.

So, 7 total runs. 1st down runs went 5 rushes for 7 yards (The first 4 of these were 4 rushes for 2 yards). 2nd down runs 1 for 16 yards, 3rd down runs, 1 for 6 yards.

It is a small sample size, but something feels way too predictable and quick to abandon a run on 2nd and long. Of course you need to be able to throw it on first down, so there are a lot of variables here, but 7 rushes when the game is never more than a score difference is wierd

Thank you for the in depth look at the second half drives. This is why the Rams got back into the game. Its not on the defense to fix bad play calling from the offense. Run the ball, its what Cowboys do!

No doubt usage of Zeke has been horrendous this season.

Stop rushing him up the gut on almost every 1st down. Every team know's it's coming, and it's a total waste of a down. It's ok to run the ball on other downs.

Stop taking him out on passing downs. It tells every team we're passing, and he's too valuable in the pass game, also.

I don't understand why there are no sweeps to the outside anymore. No tosses, no misdirection, no play action runs. Everything is right up the gut. The coaches are entirely too stubborn in their playcalling with that.

And then to see the Rams, in the 4th quarter, run it on 2nd and 14 with success ... pissed me off.

Especially with how we are so quick to do-away with the run game. Dak isn't the type of QB who can make the throws necessary to win you a game by himself. I have no idea why, even in close games, we take the ball out of the hands of the most dangerous weapon we have (Elliott).

Yep. Elliott has good hands too and the team would benefit from tossing the ball to him. Garrett needs to add some new plays and try to keep defenses off balance. He is so predictable.

I don't think they have confidence with the TEs blocking the edges. Especially with Witt. He's been horrible blocking this year. They need to fix this quick. Maybe it's time we reduce Witt's snaps and get someone else more involved instead. I did notice they are trying to do somethings with Noah Brown on run plays.

Very astute observation. It was no coincidence when Hanna lead blocked for Zeke out of the backfield Zeke scored. Hanna can set the edge. Witten just yells ole' as they go by him.

It's almost as if they should start running a different personnel group than 11 and 12 all the time.

The most logical cure to the run game woes is to run plays in 10 personnel seeing how we actually have decently deep WR group.

Force defense to go small and stop crowding the box, and then run them over.

And if they refuse to go small, beat them up with your WRs and Zeke out of the backfield.

But sadly, I don't think we have but 4 or 5 plays in our playbook that feature 10 personnel; seeing how we've only run 2 plays from that last year and probably none this year.
