Anyone have an exact count on Zekes touches ? It seems strange to give up on the running game so early. I've been a critic of Dak and his performance was poor however it doesn't look like the coaching staff is doing him any favors giving up on the run game so early. I never saw the counter play that was so successful last year. Lack of creativity in the run game when the run game is all you have is suicide. Dak seems to be taking a lot of short drops you think that is by design ? He seems to be getting a lot of pressure in the middle of the pocket due to short drops. Poor mechanics continue. I still believe Dak will be ok if we can get the running game back on track Zeke should get 25-30 touches every game. I would use him more in the passing game as well. Like Carolina uses their backs. Defense looked ok. Special teams not impressed with kick coverage. Tell our new kicker he won the job we believe in him go have fun out there think he will be ok.

Oh, so more touches against a brick wall would have been better? Our QB needed to play better to open up the running game.

That's true he does need to play better. But giving up on the run game is not the answer. More creativity in the run games and getting Zeke more involved in the passing game makes more sense than trying to make Dak into a 35-45 pass attempt guy. Hes just not there yet and may never be a top 15 passer. We have to work with what we have. And that is Zeke. Did you see any creativity in the run game ? Any new wrenkles in the run game ? No. I didn't even see the counter play that's been so successful.

Dak cannot pass. It doesn't matter what the run game does. He's more pathetic than cam newton.

Hard to give him touches when the passing game is so bad they can just key on Zeke.

You have to be able to move the ball via the pass to make the LB's and Safety's back off. Dallas never showed they could do that.

Dak will never be a top 64 passer. If you watched this game you will see that. I tried too long to hope he could but it's obvious now

Dak was under a fair bit of pressure most of the time. Not that he made throws when he wasn't, but the line was pretty bad too. Lots of blame to go around.

Zeke didn't play at all in preseason so it will take him awhile to get going. But the OL is not as good as it was and we have no WR's that scare anybody. And the QB needs to make better throws.

Dak may be a bus driver but hes the best bus driver we have. We need to try to help him out by not giving up on the run game.

Fewer touches running it out of finesse shotgun formations might have helped.

What's the point of dressing a FB and a platoon of tight ends who are all garbage as passing game weapons? What's the point of spending all the resources we've spent on run-blockers if we outsmart ourselves out of lining up in real running formations? And if we're gonna call only 15 runs for the guy we spent a top 5 pick on, and choosing instead to call 40 passing plays in a low-scoring, rainy game?

Our play-calling is more of a problem than our players. They just don't get it.

We win that game with romo. Dak is scared and has no idea what he is doing against NFL defenses. 16 was a fluke.
no we don't
Show me a game where Romo played great against the Cam Newton led panthers. Last time we played them, we got blown out and Romo got knocked out of the game. Cassell scored one half of the 14 points we put up. This Romo revisionism is getting out of hand

15 carries and 3 catches. But I hate how we use him in the passing game.

the whole first half Dallas was three and double digits for a first down, hard to run the ball when you're in that situation

We need to stretch the field. The safeties are never more than 10 yards off the LoS because we never take a shot down field.

Today our offense looked like vanilla preseason game plan.

for me this was Denver game all over. Zeke was running into brick wall. That's when passing game needs to back them off some. It's Dallas dilemma this year....they are one dimensional football team. Its really hard to win that way in NFL.
