Ellis held back

Did anyone else notice this? I was pretty sure I saw it when it happened but I just ran my TIVO back and watched both of the skins TDs again, clearly on BOTH Ellis is being held. This is what allowed Brunell the time to see and execute both passes. I'm pretty sure he would have had a sack on the first and the second certainly would have disrupted the play and prevented the TD. I don't mean to come off as sour grapes or make excuses but jeez after the phantom calls on FLO you would think they'd have to call these holds, they're sneaky but blatant! Anybody find it odd that Brunell and Moss failed to connect at all like this all game then suddenly its "Culpepper to Moss" in the 4thQ. Bottom line is the refs get worn down and tired just like the players, at the end of games they too sometimes lose their focus and get sloppy and commit "fouls"! I'll take the loss but it sure doesn't taste good knowing it was soured by poor and lazy officiating at such crucial points in a game like this!! There should be some type of official review and fine on refs for "missing" calls such as this that ultimately dictate the outcome of a game. Bitter?...YES. Deterred...NO! There, I've said my peace, maybe now I can get some sleep! JMHO but...

...if you disagree, go watch it again!

I dont know about the 2nd one...the first one it was pretty obvious someone pulled his jersey

that said, blaming the officials is lame...your up 13-0 with 5 minutes to go at home against a bad offensive team, this should be a "W", not a "L"

this team just cant finish people off, on either side of the ball...defensively it was just pathetic, as at least the Skins came in with a GOOD defense to slow down our offense...their offense was terrible all last yr, it was terrible last week and it was terrible for 55 minutes last night

You know, the second was the one I was not so sure about but toward the end of the game they go to break for commercial and show a closeup of the action around the QB on that pass and BAM there it is right in everyones face on NatTV. Also, I'm not so much blaming the officials as asking for an honest game called by 60min pros. I for one am confident that if just one of those(say the first one)calls is made we do get the "W" and not the "L". You can't blame a defense if your getting to the QB but being held without a call, multiple times! We played well last night for such a young team and I think the defense was stout, just bad dice! Peace.

I'm tired of all these conspiracy theories. We didn't win 3 Super Bowls in the 90's on conspiracy theories. We rolled over everyone ... that's something we can't do now.

We should have destroyed the Skins, but we were satisfied with a 13-0 lead. A Super Bowl team would have gone for the throat! F the refs. Makes no difference. They didn't lose the game for us, our lousy play at the end did us in.

No more complaining about the refs or this supposed Cowboy hate by the media ... I'm tired of this whining.

I'm tired of your whining dude. Why don't you stop trying to correct everyone else for a change? Sheesh!

You got it bro.

You're right. The refs did it. Blame it on the media.

Anyone who bashes the Cowboys is a hater and part of an international conspiracy to bring the Cowboys down.

It's all good. We're looking at 3-0 with a 45-3 blowout win over the Skins. Oops ... alarm clock just went off.

He's got a point. Why is it always when someone blames the refs, it's conspiracy theory as if to invoke the Pavlovian response of conspiracy "hysteria." There were some extremely questionable calls at key critical moments. To say they don't have an effect is bogus. For example, Flozell's phantom holding call on 3rd and 5 conversion caused a ten yard swing to occur. You just can't do that against a good defense like the Commanders.

But they were part of the summation of the parts. That has nothing to do with "conspiracy."

How is pointing out obvious, extremely crucial blown calls whining? I think we did go for the throat, running, passing, trick plays, punting! It's just the skins D held it down. Or are you going to discount an excellent defense that played a very good game? Two excellent defenses for that matter. For me the whining lies in..."Zimmer sucks"..."put this one on Parcells"..."why is Glenn out there"! All that is BS IMO. I think Zimmer called a good game, I think Parcells, as usual, outcoached Gibbs and Aaron Glenn is one of the best cover corners in the league(he's also one of our fastest guys) and has been for a very long time or have some people forgotten the end of the SD game already? Don't kill the messenger, I'm just sayin, watch it again! Two long TDs, two blatant holds on a man who was about to have a sack, and suddenly it's 14-13 within three minutes and everyone wants to say we blew it! No, the refs blew this one for us plain and simple!! It's on celluloid brother, go watch it AGAIN. Of course JMO. Peace

And Skins fans can probably point out several calls that should have gone THEIR way. you have to play through officials.

Look, I'm not one to complain about the officials, but when I start seeing things like what occurred last night I begin to have my doubts. I never think the officials are the reason a team loses. But they certainly have an affect, and it's their job to get every call right. If they make one mistake, fine. If they keep compounding them in a game like they did last night, something becomes fishy in my opinion. NFL officials have to be held to a higher standard than other jobs, because then the integrity of the game begins to start being questioned. Just ask the NHL and complaints about their officiating.

I would agree with you about questionable calls against the other team, but I didn't see one. I try to be as objective as possible, and in this case I think I am.

Thats where my concerns go. Not on two questionable calls. We have to figure out a way to finish.

Law I did not see the hold on the first pass, but I saw the one on the 2nd td pass so clearly, that I was chuckling to my self that as the receiver was going into the endzone that this one will be coming back.

Imagine my surprise.

As for people like Eddie, the best thing to do is just ignore them. Because as long as you follow the forum guidelines, you can make posts pointing out mistakes, by the players, coaches, owners and referees.

If someone doesn't like it, tough.

The hold on the 1st TD was soooo obvious, the last holding call on Flo was a killer too....but a missed field goal, the penalty on Keyshawn and our last offensive series were just as bad.

I thought i was just looking for it until i logged on and everyone else was pointing it out (the first hold more especially). That first one was as blatant as the two called earlier on Wash., and the one on Flo.
