Here's an article by JJT re Ellis' role with the Cowboys.
Jones isn't saying what Ellis role will be but states he is a valuable player. What I didn't like twas JJT stating a source said Ellis hasn't participated in the offseason conditioning program where Parcells established that 40 workouts is optimium participation. Didn't notice date of article so sorry of this already reported.
I want Ellis here cause he's a class guy and leader who had 8 sacks--not even in a full time capacity. That said, not happy Ellis seems to be limiting/cutting off ties to the Cowboys. Jones said he'll be meeting with Ellis and his agent before June minicamp (Jones said he frequently meets with vets after the draft, etc.) so we'll see how Ellis conducts himself in the minicamp. Hopefully he works hard and isn't a distraction to the team but no doubt in my mind that Ellis won't here after this season. But question arises whether he will even be a Cowboy in the season opener?
Cowboys will do what they can, within reason, to keep him but still...... depending on his attitude during TC (and salary cap hit we'd take) a trade might be in order if we can get a 3rd rounder for him but no way do we just cut him.
