You're right. There are people who genuinely think they have an ability and try to help people. I wouldn't call them scammers. The easiest way to spot a scammer is to follow the money. Some so-called psychics bilk people out of thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. There have been some who drain an elderly person's bank account to zero before they move on to their next victim. These people are the lowest of the low and are completely different from someone who does some Tarot card readings at no charge for friends because she thinks she can help them. I knew a girl in college like that.
