Emerging Distractions
While this team is brewing with talent that should allow it to make a Super Bowl run, should we be concerned at all by what seems to be a number of emerging distractions:
1.) Roy Williams situation (not that his situation hasn't been troubling before, but now there seems to be some public questioning of his role on the team on both sides).
I agree with that, no one really knows I think to a degree where to play roy, i think his best position would be at weakside linebacker Will in the 4-3
2.) Greg Ellis (once again not new and not clear what is up this time,
Hmm, maybe would be good if we can trade Greg Ellis say to the Patriots, that is where he wanted to go, and then trade for Jason Taylor, to reunite Taylor with his good buddie Zach Thomas. To me, Greg should realize that with Spencer getting more reps, he will be only better when he does come in to play in certain situations. Then, when Greg Ellis comes back in, on certain defenses, that will only make that offensive team have to throw the ball on obvious passing downs. Added to that, would be giving Greg more sacks, fumbles and maybe some interceptions. Also, that would enable the Cowboys to have a devastating defensive with Ware, Ellis and Spencer rushing, with Raliff and Tank Johnson coming on, then the Cowboys might be in that big playoff game and win. Remember the old saying, you win with championship defenses, so Greg should see that and it would prolong Greg's career.
3.) Terry Glenn (Seems like he isn't highly enamored of the injury settlement proposition)
I dont blame either side, you cant blame Terry Glenn for wanting protection in case of ending career injury, but like the Cowboys had to pay 5,800,000 for Terry's injury last year, and he barely played. So, seems like the Cowboys and Terry Glenn should work out a compromise.
4.) Ken Hamlin (Not working out with team due to "contract situation")
I dont like Hamlin's holding out, but what are you going to do. Hamlin on his side issue of contract holdout did play for peanuts last year, but on other hand the Cowboys did franchise him at safety's top dollar. So, again, these players should realize, there is only so much money in the cap situation, so some giving and taking should be given on both sides.
5.) TO still not extended (not that he has complained, but the media seem intent on making an issue of it as long as he goes without an extension).
I am sure that the Cowboys, especially Jerry Jones will sign or resign T O to a 2-3 year contract. Again, there is only so much money we have left in our salary cap this year, and we still need money to resign Ware, Tank Johnson, Columbo, Canty and Hamlin, so something has to give. I know we have about 8 million extra, and most likely we have a player that cant reach his contract goals for this year, like Curtis last year, and I think we added something like 4 million to the cap for that, forgot what you call that situation where you add cap money if a player cant reach his contract bonuses.
