He was a great running back, but his lack of talent as a commentator has been well noted and recorded by other members of this board long before this post. Last night when he talked about a player "INSERTING HIMSELF" as opposed to "ASSERTING HIMSELF" I kinda felt sorry for him. Then I realized he is probably making a ton of money giving commentary and felt a lot less sorry for him. LOL

I think he's doing much better and people are just riding him for his terrible job earlier in the season.

He does stumble over his words at times, but so does every other TV personality. He's nowhere near as bad as people portray him to be.

Hey, every guy has the need to insert from time to time.

Its getting contagious... now I cant listen to Steve Young either... he is mumbling and bumbling his thoughts and words.....

Emmitt is painful to listen to.

I don't care if he is a homer for the cowboys, he is just hard to listen to at times...almost feel embarrassed for him.

They just need to put D.Woodson in Emmitt's spot.

If you really think about it, he really doesn't give any "insightful" information. Sometimes I wonder what Steve Young is thinking after Emmitt comments on a topic. I bet Keyshawn is in the studio just busting up laughing.

I refuse to make a comment on Emmitt's ability, or lack thereof, as a broadcaster because I might be labled as a "crybaby".

That's why whenever it's his turn to talk I mute the T.V and leave the room.

Emmitt is in need of some serious coaching from a professional speaker. He's not articulate and lacks adequate vocabulary to maintain an intelligent conversation.

Sometimes, he just needs to slow down and gather himself...

I just change the channel and forego the pain.

What the hell do you be talking about?

Apparently that's nothing compared to Norv in his press conferences, to hear Chargers fans tell it.

I can't imagine what Norv as a studio analist would be like.

And that misspelling was intentional.

Keyshawn either doesnt make sense or he follows someone else's comments and talks and you think he is adding to it... but he says the same things... in a more ebonic manner

Not to sidetrack another Emmitt broadcaster thread, but I would love to see Woody in a larger role. He's articulate, intelligent, and adds something to the conversation rather than the same old, tired talking points. That alone puts him ahead of 90% of former players-turned analysts.

Sarge, I know you are being sarcastic but just keep posting what you want to post.

This is a message board and people can say what they want as long as it is within the guidelines.

I here ya Mike. Seems people get a little ripped if ya comment on Aikman as an annoucer (see the Aikman thread).....

I won't spend much time defending Emmitt because he does make verbal mistakes. However, I don't know a person that doesn't.

At least he hasn't come out week after week saying 'The Cowboys haven't faced anyone, this will be their first test. I'm picking <insert team name here>.' or some other such nonsense.

If the worst things you can say is you don't understand slang or get caught up in the fact that he said escape goat, inserting himself, etc. then it just comes off like you are nitpicky.

I'm sure when Emmitt was brought in, it was to reach targeted demographics. For example, those that watch Dancing with the Stars which happens to be on the same night Monday Night Football is on, or for those fans that don't want this snooty analysis that Steve Young puts out there.

Honestly, as bad as he does, I prefer him over some of the people they have trotted and continue trotting out there.
