I just don't like the direction the NFL is going. I know safety has to continue to be a concern, but football is a physically violent game and the participants are generously compensated to take part in that violence. If the NFL has a goal to continually remove that part of the game, the NFL is going to eventually go away.

While I agree that a lot of the safety rules are bogus, they had to do this.

If running backs lower and lead with their head, of course they are going to take head shots. Doing so takes some of the onus off of defenders.

I won't call it a good move, but I like it considering the circumstances the NFL is in.

A rule preventing running backs from lowering their head into tacklers would be one of the most ridiculous rules ever. How can you play running back without being able to lower your head into defenders especially in a pile to try and gain yardage? Would love to hear the opinions of Jim Brown and John Riggins on this proposed rule. Earl Campbell made his living lowering his head into tacklers.

There was even talk a few years ago about penalizing RB's for using a stiff arm to the face of defenders that looked like a punch. MB3 was doing that which got the league to discuss it. Player safety is important but penalizing an RB for lowering their head into a tackler is going way too far. Could you imagine an RB lowering their head to pick up a yard on a critical 3rd and 1 in the final couple of minutes of a championship game and they're penalized wiping out a first down. No way does this rule pass.

maybe they will not have game time penalties but fines and suspensions if they do it

could be an option

the fine money would go towards the future lawsuits
