Emmitt or Dorsett

Both were great backs but this is an extremely easy call. Without hesitation it’s Emmitt. He was clearly the better back and it’s not even close. The Cowboys won 3 SB’s with him and he was the primary reason. He led the league in rushing 4 times, while Dorsett never led the league in rushing. Not to mention Emmitt was a league MVP and SB MVP. Dorsett accomplished neither. Emmitt is the all time leading rusher and only Jerry Rice scored more TDs than Emmitt. He could wear a defense out. All Dorsett had over Emmitt was speed. Someone is bound to give most of the credit to the OL for Emmitt’s success. His OL was great but he made A LOT of plays out of nothing. Watch his highlights! Dorsett also had a great OL for several seasons.

I forgot to mention Emmitt was a more powerful back. He had a thicker body and wouldn’t wear down and no one could play with injuries like him. We all remember the game against the Giants when he had the separated shoulder. Like I said it’s not even close between Emmitt and Dorsett if you’re looking to dominate.

you are off. Dorsett got up to 2nd all time is rushing by the time he retired. Its close

You have solid team with very good OLine but you gotta pick your RB… who you picking yo be your RB? And why?
Tony Dorsett
Emmitt Smith

This a very tough call. Dorsett is a threat every time he touches the ball to take it to the house but occasionally gets caught behind the los and Emmitt rarely gets caught behind the los but rarely takes it to the house.
Emmitt anyday and everyday.....

What was I off about? I said Dorsett never led the league in rushing. It’s not remotely close between the two. Dorsett was never at any point the all time leading rusher. Emmitt has been retired for 21 years and is STILL the all time leading rusher. He’s also STILL second all time to Jerry Rice in TDs. Only Roger Staubach was a greater Dallas Cowboy than Emmitt Smith.

I never hear this about Brady v Manning or Elway vs Marino. Never have i heard these either or questions about Staubach or Bradshaw. Bob L. or Fred B., I don't get the Jordan or Koby thing. The Barry or Walter, or Emmitt v Dorsett. They all are great and were a delight to see play. We don't have to put one down or uplift one over the other. I personally hold enough space to appreciate them all for exactly what they were. Great. Pick your RB and enjoy your choice for your reasons. No matter which way you go you'll have a great for sure.

Dorsett was Awesome, but only Emmitt showed the sheer grit and will to go win an important game with a separated shoulder and carry us on to win 5 Superbowls.

"Determination" in the dictionary ought to come with a pic of Emmitt Smith.
