Man, I am going to cry like a b**** when I am in Canton for Emmitt's HoF induction. It's gonna be bad.

don't worry, emmitt will be boohooing right along with you.

agreed. very good thread.

I just wanted Emmitt to get to 20,000 yards... REALLY put it out of reach...........Emmitt20k

It will never happen, not as long as free agency is in effect. No one will stay committed to a starter for so long. Jones should have drafted/signed a new starter by 1999, but instead he kept drafting/signing backups like Sherwin Williams and Chris Warren to spell Emmitt.

Jones kept playing Emmitt, hoping to rekindle past glories. Not to take away from Emmitt, but he was fortunate to have been given the chance and also find a team so committed to the running game as the Cowboys have traditionally been.

Glory to Emmitt, though, the best of all time.

Except when he bad-mouthed the Cowboys after leaving for Arizona. I quote...

Emmitt Smith said:
the worst year I ever went through in football ... It felt like being a diamond surrounded by trash.
His excuse:

Emmitt Smith said:
The season was trash and the organization was a diamond.
That didn't make any sense. More like an about face from a truly stupid comment.

Beyond that snide remark... (and I can understand why he was upset) He... was one of the greatest running backs of all time and as Rayfield Wright put it.

Rayfield Wright said:
God knows that (insert Emmitt Smith here) not a saint, but I am a Dallas Cowboy.

Emmitt was close until he agreed to be on "Dancing with the Stars" :laugh2: :laugh1: :laugh2:

He and Jerry just need to let it go.
