Did you say that about Romo? How about we stop rewarding players like they have won a Super Bowl when they wouldn’t get this kind of treatment in any other market.
Apples and oranges. Not sure Emmitt is the one to be giving Dak contract advice, he did hold out for a new contract in 93. Doubt he had that same perspective when he was playing.
Apples and oranges.
No salary cap in '93.
Interesting coming from a legend who had to hold out to get his 2nd contract.........
Did you say that about Romo?
Of course not.

Old article. I don't like it. Jerry talking crazy. Dak can be his own level of greatness without comparing him to Brady. He could be.
His toughness and leadership have been termed as Steve McNair and his efficiency compared to Alex Smith. And Jerry compares him to Brady.

Practice squad player. This is Emmitt's nice way of telling Dak that he would have been third- string behind Aikman and Buerlein.
What other market are you talking about? How about we stop rewarding players like they have won a Super Bowl when they wouldn’t get this kind of treatment in any other market.
Yeah, he was the best in the NFl at his position. There wasn’t a salary cap. plus Smith was fresh off back to back rushing titles and a Super Bowl victory.
When there was no salary cap Emmitt wasn't taking money from the rest of the team. That’s already been mentioned and like I told the other poster the salary cap hasn’t stopped players from holding out. Players are still looking to get as much money as they can. With free agency players know someone will pay them. Most players don’t care about keeping teams together, they care about their own financial future.
"Perceived" respect. It's logical, but these negotiations are more about pride and respect than logic (IMO).

You really have no way of knowing what he would have done. You might be right, but you might not be.If there had been a salary cap in 93 he still would have been looking for a big contract. The salary cap hasn’t kept players from holding out and taking money from the rest of the team. Players are looking out for themselves and their future. Look at all the money that’s being shelled out in free agency. Players are leaving in free agency because their teams can’t afford them. Players aren’t in the business of giving discounts.
