it's funny, all these commercials, and people are still telling me that they already have health insurance

I just want to hold a meeting so I can publicly ream them w/ a soldering iron

but I can't blame them, because I didn't know exactly what AFLAC was before either

:laugh2: :laugh2:

And now you know why I avoided SALES my entire life.

How much cold calling are you doing? Those calls iritate the hell out of me. I have this sales guy who has called me for over a year now. His name is Todd from VXI Corp. He want's to sell me some phone headsets.

I do IT.

I DONT DO PHONES !! He leave me 2 messages a week. When Im at my desk and see his call come in, I quickly push iDivert.

Don't be a cold caller.

Isn't that harassment? Why doesn't he get the message that you don't want any?

That would involve me picking up the phone to inform him of that. He tricked me once doing that.

I would think not answering/returning his calls in over a year, he would stop.

Nope !!! Keeps onnnnn going.

Ah, Aflac, I got that once. Guy came out and talked to everyone at work about it. Was pretty reasonable rates. Then after I had a new job I contacted them to see what the rates would be and it was much more than it had been before so I opted not to do it.

I'm pissed at my current insurance I get through work because they raised rates by 28% this year and didn't tell us until AFTER the enrollment period was over. Now instead of switching to me only, I'm stuck with my wife on there as well. If I had known about the increase I would have had her get insurance through her work. Would have saved over $100 a month.

It sounds to me like you are brand new to sales.

Some people may argue the point but I am going to give you the secret to doing well in sales....

Go out and get the book called "See You At The Top" by Zig Ziglar.

Read it, learn it and live it. The guy is a classy guy, very honest and a good individual.

And he is the best sales trainer on the planet. I know some will say other folks but Zig is the master and this book is one of his masterpieces.

If he really wants to get motivated, he should look up the Glengarry Glen Ross speech by Alec Baldwin on YouTube. I can't link it here because of the language... but man, if that won't get you fired up to sell, I don't know what will. :D

I don't think you are going to last very long as an insurance salesman.

Do you know how bad the economy is? Benefits are getting cut.

And to tell you the truth, your product probably ain't all that.

Now you know how car salesmen feel. Sympathize with them. Maybe if you buy one of their cars, they will buy your insurance.

Obama will nationalize healthcare soon. Employers know that. People know it is coming. You will need to sell something else very shortly.

from now on I'm incorporating the duck into my calls

you buy my assurance or the duck gets it!

or I was thinking

every time you turn down a AFLAC person, a duck loses it's wings

Now see, I think you may be onto something here.

I LOVE duck... ESPECIALLY when the skin's really crispy.

" Hello sir... buy our insurance... get a free order of Peking Duck Wings"

YUM-O!!

I doubt that, since the Medical industry is pouring millions of dollars into their pockets

Well I paid just over $8 a paycheck when I had it before and I got paid every 2 weeks. Now it would be over $20 every 2 weeks. Unless I've been given bad info.

Positive. The first was in 2002, and I checked back in about 2006 or so. What would you quote me?

I just received a call that made me think of Bob and this thread.

This salesguy calls our office, and then lies to our receptionist about who he is with.

Says something like "this is Mike from American Families."

I took the call, and the first words out of the guy's mouth are: "Hi, I'm Mike with AFLAC. You may have heard of us from our duck commercials."

I was so mad I just hung up on the guy.

It sucks that employers treated you rudely when you were making your calls, but it's things like what this guy did that gives telephone salesmen/solicitors a bad name.

I'm not a rude person by nature, but I have no problem hanging up on a guy who lies to get through to me.

I quit that job long ago, I just stopped showing up, oh how I hated it

I can see where you guys are coming from, it's annoying to receive 10 calls, from 10 different people, from the same company

at least I can say that I have an insurance producer's license for the state of Maryland, so that's good :)

Because not all businesses are thriving right now. Some are just barely breaking even waiting and for the wave to go back up.
