One of the funniest moments every year on our forum is watching the reactions of some of our fans on the Gameday forum. On the first 3 and out, the “season is over” and after the first TD, we are “unstoppable.” It’s pure comedy either way.

The 2025 season is upon us this Thursday and at least on paper, this looks to be one of our weakest teams in the last decade. Games aren’t played on paper of course, so nothing anyone has said this entire off-season means anything until the real games start. Here we go….

And we open with the champs - the hated egirls. Hoping for a win of course. Realistically I’m prepared for a loss. If I’m being honest, the Cowboys look like a mediocre team this year led by a rookie HC and new staff. It usually takes time for that formula to gel unless the new HC has inherited a juggernaught (see Barry Switzer) Unfortunately Schotty does not inherit a juggernaut.

But I always remember that the NFL is completely unpredictable. Sometimes bad teams win early (saints last year) and good teams start slow. We could win Thursday and all it means is we won our opener. If we get blown out, it doesn’t mean this team will go 0-17.

Whatever happens Thursday night - good or awful - it remains 1/17th of the season. It’s a very long road. So…Enjoy it all.

I’ve reached the age where I realize enjoying my favorite teams is important win or lose because the number of seasons I have diminishes every year. Nothing is guaranteed. I’m hanging in on the Cowboys in hopes that someday soon, major changes will happen. Lord knows our fans are due for some new.

Go Cowboys!

I'm right there with you Bob. My wishes and expectations have changed dramatically over the last 10 years. Games are much more enjoyable when you realize it's just a sport played for our entertainment. There's nothing we can do about it. I will enjoy it no matter the outcomes.

For me this is shaping up to be really fun in a strange way. I want to win but if and when we don’t, it means better draft position.

Win-win!

Exactly. Each win brings joy to me but each loss means a higher quality player in the 2026 draft. It would be nice to find a Jeanty level RB next year along with a DL in the first rd .

I try to avoid the gameday chat for the most part, but I have to admit that I log into in after a particularly good, or bad, play on either team's part. The overreactions either side are funny.

On a sidenote I wish that they'd bring back Trolling the Nation after a Cowboys win. Those were pure gold.

I'm looking to make them pay for each and every yard they get and making game changers by the Cowboys. I'm watching for who is doing what and in what conditions.

Good thoughts, guys.

Now bring on the damn Eagles! :starspin:

Very well said, Bob. Here, hoping for the best but prepared for a loss. Go Cowboys.

What will continue to be funny, in only a Cowboys way, is when we score 31 points and still lose, somehow it will be Dak's fault.

The Dak hate here is over the top no doubt. He has definitely earned a lot of the criticism he gets and he’s way overpaid. But the guy who somehow agreed to make him the highest paid player in NFL history deserves the lion share of the blame.

I’m ready for the Cowboys to start a new era at QB. But there is no QB tree to just go pick. Finding even a decent QB is hard. Thinking just getting rid of Dak makes this team automatically better is foolish.

We do need to start looking for a new QB though for sure.

It should be a good game. Major changes did happen.

Isn’t it great having a team where instead of thinking about matchups etc for Thursday it’s been reduced to “anything can happen?”

It’s fine if there’s some sort of plan in place to be able to actually contend at some point soon, but I can’t understand why they continue to throw away seasons by not spending all they can, and leaving holes all over roster as they search for bargains.

Is it because they have different goals than our fans. Or maybe reality has set in for them, and they understand that our FO is just not talented enough to build a SB team.

So the ultimate goal for them is to just hang hangout at the rim.

I just hope we don't get punked out. If they beat us, they beat us. Don't get punked in Lincoln field. That'll make me disinterested in watching them play.

...funny thing, age helps putting things in perspective, so you dont tie in much what is being said.

The younger bunch, are hilarious. Everything is DO or Die. Typing faster than you think.

Im here to enjoy and support the team dead or alive. The joy of being Cowboy fan from Eons ago.

Odd year for me. It wouldn't shock me if we had seven wins this year,...nor would it shock me if we had 12 , as we do have enuff talent to win. But one thing remains the same,....I will never go into a season expecting to lose.
