What precisely is Brian Stewart's job in Dallas? Can anyone provide a general description of his duties beyond his title?

Stewart calls the defensive plays. I'd imagine that he helps formulate the defensive gameplan, but maybe Wade does that by himself.

Lame duck defensive coordinator?

:laugh2:

It seems Wade has more direct control over the defense than most head coaches. I'm simply curious to the nature Stewart's responsibilities.

I have heard of the No Name Defense, but I am afraid Dallas now has the Three Name Defense: Ware, Thomas & Ratliff.

From the coordinator all the way down to the ball boy...they are not getting the job done.

Thanks.

Would it be an accurate assessment to say that Wade has installed the Cowboys' overarching defensive philosophy and that Stewart designs a scheme and calls plays rooted in that philosophy?

why would wade having control over the defense come as a suprise. didnt dallas just get over having a coach who wouldnt even allow any coach by himself to talk to the media?

no big deal he's the hc for a reason.

There may be some truth to this.

The general philosophy of this defense is derived from Wade Phillips. I'm almost certain the soft corner play and lack of aggressiveness in the secondary is more the product of Wade Phillips than Brian Stewart.
