We collectively suck at rush defense. And it's contagious.
KC had a prototypical NT in NNadi. Weight isn't the issue. It's about build and the ability to both anchor the middle and move side to side.Kansas City’s roster lists Chris jones at 310 and their heaviest DT at 316.
And we're not going to make a super bowl w/o those DT's.My approach with DT was do I make my offensive line a strength or do I take the DT that may or may not have an immediate impact?
FlexRight, all of this 1 tech, 3 tech, gap A, gap B crap. Just line up and play.
Why are you listing the heights of every DT we've ever had?Back in the glory days of yesteryear, we had Jethro Pugh, 6'7" at LDT, Bob Lilly 6"5" at RDT, both great against the run and as pass-rushers. When Lilly retired, we eventually had Randy White 6'4"at RDT and Jethro Pugh at LDT, then John Dutton, 6'7" at LDT.
The 1992 championship team had Russel Maryland 6'1" at RDT and Tony Casillas 6'3" at LDT. Later on Leon Lett became a starting RDT, with Chad Hennings at LDT for the 95 championship team. Both of these latter two guys were 6'6" and had no gut, they were not fatties.
I want playmakers at DT. Guys who control the line of scrimmage, disrupt running plays, get into the backfield, block the QB views, get sacks. I want playmaking defensive tackles, period.
DT's out there: In Dallas, you must dominate at the point of attack. Make plays, stop being invisible.
just see Philly. that's exactly what they did.Back in the glory days of yesteryear, we had Jethro Pugh, 6'7" at LDT, Bob Lilly 6"5" at RDT, both great against the run and as pass-rushers. Osi is good as a pass rush DT.If settle for 1 great or good DT.
For those who don't understand what they mean.Post of the morning
OhFor those who don't understand what they mean.
Now, ask when and why this shift in terminology and roles of each. Then you will begin to have the answerBack in the glory days of yesteryear, we had Jethro Pugh, 6'7" at LDT, Bob Lilly 6"5" at RDT, both great against the run and as pass-rushers. That’s realistic. Two is very rare. If you get lucky you could hit on 2 in the draft, if there’s even 2 in a draft. But then it’s just a few years. They get very expensiveIf settle for 1 great or good DT.
You'll get a 5-tech and you'll like it, mister!Back in the glory days of yesteryear, we had Jethro Pugh, 6'7" at LDT, Bob Lilly 6"5" at RDT, both great against the run and as pass-rushers. Absolutely. And faced w/ a great DT draft, we abstained. How stupid is that. The entire league is starved for great DT's
Right? For those who don't understand what they mean.
