EPA Impact Micah Parsons - Bill Barnwell

Yeah, time will tell how he handles the huge money and how his body matures, but he is a game changer. Dallas never surrounded him with the right players to allow him to do what he does best. He was still great as a cowboy. Time will tell if Green Bay corrects the mistakes Dallas made.

Once upon a time, NFL.com's Bucky Brooks ranked each position's importance from most to least (link). Here were his top five:
  1. Quarterback
  2. Designated Pass Rusher #1
  3. Left Tackle
  4. Left Cornerback
  5. Wide Receiver #1
Personally, I would switch primary pass rusher and left tackle, but I generally agree with his rankings. General managers have (or should have) a difficult job judging which players to keep and which players to let go. GMs are not perfect. Every decision will not be perfect either. That said, Dallas has

making those decisions. Kinda puts things into perspective.

He will get the holding calls in G.Bay that he didnt in Dsllas

Will kill several drives per game that way, then sacks & pressures added on
This.

And GB is a sound organization. He should be fine.

There are three areas I can see that could cause issues for him:

1. Distractions now that he has been paid and has “arrived”. Don’t see motivation being an issue this year— after though? Could get interesting

2. Run defense. Teams exploited him by running right at him. Will GB scheme to cover that flaw up or will he continue to be a problem in that dept?

3. Injuries. He is a small DE going up against OTs. Father time is undefeated.

Barnwell is a crybaby and will never support this team because of who the owner is. I ignore the guy. It's a case of opinion parading as research or facts. He's a misleading guy.

Just remember, the proof is not in the pudding. the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

So we shall see. I think this is a good opportunity to coach and play better across the whole line.

I've thought of Parsons as a home run hitter. Maybe more of a wild card. Maybe we can get a better "on base percetage" with a more...integrated? group.

Question.....how you think OCs will game plan for our D now vs with Parsons on the field
run at the defense. let the defense prove they can consistently stop the run. w ehave been suspect to outside runs for years now. its going to continue.
then play action and attack Diggs and the safties. TEs will have a blast sitting in the middle zone with our LBs trying to cover them.

That’s just it. His presence, even when he wasn’t hitting a home run, elevated the entire defensive unit.

That’s why all of these advanced stats continue to show that our defense, when he was in the field, was much, much better than when he was not.

Opposing OCs based their gameplan around a him. Nearest I can come is the way Deion in his prime required OCs to essentially give up their best WR every week.

Yeah, this smacks of a very misleading stat. Was this team ever #1 in anything defensive related, even with Micah on the field? They had a couple of good years under Quinn, but they were never even close to the best defense in the league even with Micah playing every play.

Only true of you classify “Primary Pass rusher” as someone playing DE in 4-3 or OLB in 3-4

An OLB in a 4-3 playing DE who is limited is not as valuable

Led the league twice in turnovers. That is a huge impact on EPA.

Skewed by game script leading to him not being on the field.

He only missed 4 games during that time period, so not enough data to compare.

Brooks made a similar observation:

Bucky Brooks said:
Since most signal callers are right-handed, the game's top pass rushers typically align at RDE or ROLB to attack from the back side.
