Video: Ereck Flowers

Exactly
I think WR, LB, G and center have a chance to have talent at 24. Of the G/C prospects who are likely to be there I think guard is better than center. Linderbaum is a good center prospect but I think he best fits a zone blocking scheme. I also think Green and Zion are really good guard prospects and have the chance to be very good guards.
To me this offense is at its best when we can run the play and hit chunk plays in play action. The oline is key to that
I’d love a good edge guy but don’t see one being there unless, as you say he has baggage. Every team wants more pass rush

Yeah, initially I thought us trading Coop signified a change to more emphasis on running the ball. Then we tagged a no blocking TE and kept all the same coaches who don't necessarily facilitate a strong run game. Nonetheless, the oline needs a youth/talent injection. We must be able to run, or this season will resemble last season.

Green and Johnson aren’t gonna be outside first
Because we only have one need?

This is peak Stephen Jones talking point that you’re repeating. Cowboys go into the draft with 4-5 needs. “Hey everyone, we’re going to build through the draft.” Cowboys nail 1 or 2 picks. Still have 3-4 needs left. Rinse repeat next offseason. Last year it was secondary. This year Oline.

You’ll always have more needs than you can address in the draft unless you’re getting 3-4 starters every draft, which no team can do.

One pick can only fix one need
And you fix those needs by drafting the best player not a position
If you look at who is most likely to be at 24 the best player is likely to be one of the guards
Drafting the 8th best DE because you need a DE is a recipe for failure
Anything can happen but most likely the best players on the board at 24 are likely to be those two guys

I think they wanted Schultz because they knew cooper wasn’t coming back. And moving on from the top 2 targets of your offense is too risky. I know they are high on McKeon but don’t know about his blocking but I expect we draft a TE at some point also

Can we spend a little of this excess money on him, so we don’t HAVE to draft Kenyon Green or Zion Johnson in first round? Played at arguably a pro bowl level at LG for Washington this year.

Did he give up 6 sacks in 2021?

What not OG Trai Turner?

At face value, releasing Flowers came as a shock. During a year where the Commanders’ offensive line was ravaged by injuries, Flowers started 16 games and played 100 percent of the snaps while holding down the fort at left guard.

According to Pro Football Focus, the seven-year vet allowed three sacks, six quarterback hits and 26 pressures across 1061 snaps. He also committed just two penalties and finished the season with a sublime 78.2 pass-blocking grade.

This really destroys the false narrative of those who bash the guy based solely on his failure at left tackle several years ago.

It amazes me how quick people are to talk, without having a clue what they’re talking about.

Flowers is an absolute bum at tackle. But if he plays G well, and is cheap, why not? Offensive lineman get injured. We don't want another Chaz Green incident.

If he's a good LG, sure bring him in and replace Connor Williams with an upgrade. If we upgrade enough on the OL around Biadasz, we may not even need a new C.

I wonder about that myself. Did Williams’ and McGovern’s struggles at left guard negatively affect Biadasz’ play in the middle? Would a better left guard allow him to focus more on his own play and responsibilities?

Could improving one position actually help two positions to get better?

You'll never draft a DE under that approach unless you have a top 10 pick.

A Guard will always be available that is a higher rated Guard than the available DEs are rated at DE.

I really dont know who this is but the responses tell all you need to know we already have guy similar in McGovern in an emergency don't need to spend on guy who not automatically better than what we already have on the team.

have you to a look at the FAs left and we still have 6months before game 1..thers some quality names left so no need to spend on aguy like this IMHO

The C is a very important position but if they have to worry about the LG messing up on every play, it no doubt affects their own. Biadasz is not Frederick and probably never will be but he is a 16 game starter and those can be hard to find.

Flower was pretty decent as an OG. I wouldnt mind picking him. I have no idea what Washington is doing inside. There offense was terrible, and they are letting talent go they cant afford to lose.

I can see us bring Flowers in. Seems there are still alot of starting caliber players out there teams are waiting on. Maybe until signings dont factor into the comp pick formula
