Fisher was a bum his first few years in the league, considering his draft position. He is now a smarter more technically proficient veteran. Makes too much sense. That is why it will not happen.

Fans do not want to hear this but...........
It would be terrible roster mgmt for Dallas to sign anyone before final cut downs.
They need to get at least 2-3 guys through to IR/PUP whatever.
Rather than risk exposing guys they want to keep they can simply wait a few days then sign the guy after the moves.
Player can be agreed and even in town of course ahead of the signing.

I'd still tell Pats I'll trade for Wynn after final cutdowns.
Stopgap solution at LT for 10M and a late pick.
He leaves in free agency and hopefully you recoup the pick via comp pick.

Worst case you sign Ty Neshke to a cheap deal as he is still living locally and unsigned.

Why would you give up a premium pick for a guy at 10 million who is more injury prone than Smith? There is a reason nobody is lining up to trade for Wynn. He won’t cash in next season.

You can sign Fisher for less and keep your premium pick. Then you have Tyler Smith play LT next season

Need to keep in mind, since it is $$$ related. If they give a big contract to a FA OT, it is guaranteed for the entire season. If they wait until after game 1, then if it doesn't work out, they can release him, go get someone else, and not take the cap hit.

I know it is not what some want to hear, but that could be an option they are waiting for as well.
It isn't right from being competitive from the start, but it is part of the salary cap game / management that all teams do.

He was also playing through knee, toe, & pectoral injuires in '21.

He had a pro bowl season in '20.
Good points.

It's reasonable to speculate that teams are looking for him to "prove it," and he doesn't feel like he should have to.

I'd really take the chance if I'm Dallas, but the kid acts as if this money comes directly out of the mouths of his children. Gotta be a steal or they won't do it.....unless you were a Dallas draftee, then it's the complete opposite. 6.5 million a year for a DE that makes no impact whatsoever, but we will lowball a guy like Fisher.

This is from an old article when it was first reported that he was not going to re-sign with Indianapolis.

I'm torn - on the one hand, yeah I'm not interested in paying 8-10M for that type of performance.

On the other hand - Carson Wentz is a terrible QB to have to block for - he's the kind of guy who will make an OL worse.

Fisher was coming off Achilles injury then hurt his pec and knee.
