I know we have a million threads going on about the Oline, but this move needs to happen today.

I looked up his 2021 stats in Indy, he gave up 7 sacks, and had one holding penalty. That was coming off of an Achilles injury too. And we all know Wentz propensity to hold the ball forever.

Having said all of that, is he perfect? No way. He is on the street for a reason? Maybe it’s money, maybe it the heel? Regardless, he wasn’t a turnstile at LT last season. He’s the best option IMO without having to give up draft capital. Tyler needs to play next to a vet. Whether he’s at Guard or LT regardless. Your move Jerry…

Whitworth is obviously the better player… but I really don’t think the guy wants to play anymore. It would probably take so much money, that it would be prohibitive.

I’m saying Fisher because he’s 31, former #1 pick, and has played well in his career before. When he tore the Achilles KC couldn’t block anyone in the SB. He has everything we could ask for what’s out there.

I agree. I think Smith should start and McGovern to G. He was playing well anyway. My issue is that it’s dicey and the depth behind them is awful.

Per Broaddus they aren’t interested in Fisher, Wynn or any other big name guy.

But they are interested in 40 year old Jason Peters. Reason being? He played for $1.75 million last season.

He said earlier this offseason "I'm looking for an up-and-coming offensive line [on a] good team or a playoff team," Peters said. "Either way is good for me because I can teach or I can sit back and listen and learn from other veterans of the game, too.

Slide Smith out to LT and sign Peters as your swing OT and use him (hopefully) sparingly. The cupboard is bare in FA and barring Whitworth coming out of retirement or a blockbuster trade— this is about the best we can manage at this point.

I heard him say this yesterday too. But it was coming from his GM buddies around the league, not the Cowboys.

Don’t rams still have his right?
I believe they do hence the retraction of his statement last night.

Yes, when a player retires from his last team, they still hold his rights. Now I am not sure how long they hold them for as the rules may have changed, and probably have.

I know when Roger Staubach retired, Dallas did not relinquish those rights until 10 years later when he was 46.

They would need to send some type of compensation or draft pick or a player.

He got a ring and rode of into the sunset
I don’t think signing with a new team is happening
I think Fisher wants a huge payday

Oh I have no doubt. And by moving Tyler out to LT, than you weaken the Guard position by having to play McGovern. It’s a domino effect again. The best bet is to get a vet LT and be done.

Agreed.

We've seen McGovern as a starter. We do not need to repeat that mistake.

Plug in a vet LT and stop with the nonsensical Philbin prayer shuffle.
