Asked him if he could pick who to play for- No hesitation-Dallas Cowboys said he would love to play for Parcells and go back to Texas. BP is the only coach of teams that are interested in him that he hasnt spoken to. I guess when BP is the coach and the Cowboys are interested in you there is no need to talk.

Also said surprised Winston was so honest on who he would love to play for most guys do that you know I just want an opportunity yada yada yada

Winston is to have dinner with our O-line coach and work out tomorrow. Has met with the Cowboys previously.

He had a number of comments about the greatness of LA.

Said he would be willing to play guard if asked.

Staying in decent shape, but not training at high level just yet, giving his body a little rest.

Said he would like to be drafted by the Cowboys if he had a choice.

Grab him in the 2nd. Or Deuce Latui.

really souring on Latui after all the reading I've done on him...looks like a major threat to eat himself out of the league...if they are looking for guards who can play in space and hit moving targets, this guy isnt it

Him wanting to play for us, or not wanting to play for us makes no difference...

Kevin Burnett... I hate the dallas cowboys... drafted
Steven Jackson... Me and my father LOVE the Cowboys... undrafted

Winston is an interesting possibility because this guy is definitely an LT - quick, lean, long arms and good footwork. He is coming off an ACL injury from the previous year and probably had a slight effect on his play last year.

The thing about his lack of strength is he will be playing a finesse position on the line going against speed rushers and almost everyone's strength can improve significantly working with pro trainers in the NFL. Actually, people often speculate that is why Wisconsin linemen tank in the NFL - they get by in college because of superior conditioning and this advantage is negated at the next level.

If we were to trade down into the end of the first or the top of the 2nd, he would have to be a serious consideration. The other candidates also have some red flags - Justice with off-field issues and McNeil with the back problems. There are a bunch of others that will be available in the second round but anytime you got a shot at a legit LT you have to think seriously about it.

The difference was no hesitation. Dallas Cowboys knowing we draft 18th didnt say that he doesnt care about where he plays but if he flat out said Dallas. If you have heard most of these draft picks talk they usually dont answer like that. They give you the famous It really doesnt matter speech. That is the difference in Eric's comment.

It doesnt matter if we want him or no or he wants us. If we can trade down we will if he is need or BPA we will probably take him. I just said it was cool like Kirwan did that he was honest because most guys arent

I like that Winston was a former TE and is a good athlete... Seems to me that if a tackle doesn't have the feet to stay in front of athletic DEs, it doesn't matter how big and strong he is.

And that might even be magnified with more teams going to the 34 and pass rushing OLBs being even quicker than most 43 DEs.

Every once in a while I see posters trash this player, though... Why is that? I thought he was regarded as a VERY high first rounder before he injured his knee.

Lots of good points in this post. The knee injury is significant because, while he was able to recover and play this year, he did not play with the same strength he did previously. This is not uncommen. With this type of injury, it usually insant until the second year that a player regains strength. I fully expect this player to not only have excellent agility and balance but much better strength next season. I really believe he is going to surprise a lot of people in this area.

No Jackson gave the speech on how he grew up watching the Cowboys with his dad yada yada yada. Winston answered The Dallas Cowboys to go back home and play for BP. Didnt feed Kirwan a load of BS shot straight foward. That was the difference in those 2 interviews
