Despite his size he seems to have all the physical tools. However, he just seems to have bad instincts.

agreed. Im no scout by any means... But I feel the plays he does manage to make have alot to do with his speed bailing him out. As you said, bad angles and terrible about over pursuing.

He's had some good games when not at middle linebacker. He just can't cope with having to play in the box targeted by a blocker. He's better in space at the weakside spot, where he's also given more of a free run.

i had high hopes for sims after filling in admirably last year..but he is awful.

carter, lee, and wilber with holloman and durant as backups is a decent rotation. now if we can only get some better play from the dline...

Sims has had some struggles and mental mistakes but one thing I can credit him for is giving 100% effort at all times
