Tell him to stay away from parades...

A Yellow Bird,
With a yellow Bill,
He landed on ,
My window Seal
I lured him in,
With a piece of bread
And than I smashed
his little head.
(edited version lol)

Ahhhh...military jodies.

I'm understanding more now, Brainpaint. It's getting better all the time, like in the Postman.

I think that is way over analyzed. If anyone thinks a team can learn more about an opponent from a former player than they can from careful film study they are in the wrong business.

Especially now that Teams have mics in helmets and don't rely on hand signals. ( I bet the Pats voted against that innovation. ) :)

Yeah, but why not both? Especially early in the season when there's not tape yet on whatever changes might have been in the works through camp.

IIRC, we did this early in the season last year, too, right? Then stopped when the trends were more established for everybody. Makes sense, when you think about it.

It enhances film study. If Garrett and the offensive coaches are smart, they will sit down in a room with Spillman and go over the SF tape after they have gone over it themselves and ask him about any ambiguities and clarify concepts and the like. Witten and Dez should be asking him about their opponents preferences and weaknesses.

We need to go for any edge we can get.

I didn't say it doesn't happen. I didn't say it doesn't help. But the truth of the matter is guys studying film on an opponent might see some things that a player who played for that team didn't even know about. In fact, I'd bet that happens a lot more than a player comes in and says, "Yeah, when it is ___________ situation they will do _____________." Most teams are blind to their own tells.

We double-timed to that in the CG many a time.

First three opponents are SF, Tenn and St. Louis. We just brought in Spillman, Edwards and Sam.

Coincidence?

Funny you started this thread. I mentioned the same thing on one of the Sam threads.

How when we can't stop the run?

Considering much of our starting defense missed the preseason, I have no idea how they will play. Hopefully Melton and company will make a difference.

I think the idea Jerry scuttled the defense so he could disguise why he brought those players in was genius.

When we blamed Jerry for not knowing what he was doing by asking Garrett to "take a more active role in the defense", I guess he knew what he was doing after all

I do and I just said how it could.

In Sam's interview yesterday, he says he'll help the team in any way he can. Right end, left end, holding the football, etc. One of the things he mentioned was with 'what I learned with the Rams.' Not sure if that was a reference to his technique, or to what the Rams have been doing in camp, but I'm assuming he was referring to the latter. That's a pretty obvious quid-pro-quo for these bottom roster guys who just want another few weeks to try to make an impact on an NFL club to stick around.

Well, if Spillman is cut after the SF game, AND Edwards cut after the Tenn game, AND Sam cut after the STL game, then you just may be on to something.:) Until then, I am skeptical and see no correlation other than coincidence.

No, they just hired guys to figure out how to tap into that signal. Belichick is now wired up such that he can hear the entire conversation between the sideline and the QB and Defensive Signal Caller.
