News: ESPN: Aaron Rodgers plans to sign with Steelers, sources say

Aaron....let it go man. You aged. None of us can do what we did at 28. Accept.

Don't go out like this. Last couple of years have been rough to watch...and now ur 1 year older.
..still feel he has at least 2 good yrs left. Around good HC and offense, might make difference.

Don't know what the issues were....could his oline protect? Not how many all pros they might have....how were they as a unit?

I think it was game two last year that showed what Rodgers is capable of still. He threw basically a perfect game. Perfect placement of balls....just a stellar game.

The guy can read a field and sling the rock if pass pro is there and he has decent pieces
I mean that's everyone. If Zack Wilson had pass protection he'd be perfectly fine there. Or Darnold....

Rodgers is a shell of his former self. Lack of a offensive line is an excuse for why you can't win in the playoffs. Offensive line is not an excuse for winning 5 games. Their offensive line grades out top 15 typically. Not the best but certainly not the rest.

Winning 5 games is a team stat...has no reflection on what Aaron can or can't do at this point in his career.

At only 20M too.

You want 50M+ guys to will you to wins. And that still isn't even a fair argument...it's still a team game.

Be reasonable

No that’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is they won more games with backups and Zack Wilson. They became a worse team with Wilson. He’s a cancer. He’s not worth 20 million. I don’t think you guys realize how bad he has been.

From a fundamentals standpoint he looks amazing.

His mechanics and ability to read a defense are top notch.

Go watch...even at New York...he has the most good looking mechanics in the game. Crisp and effortless looking.

He has what all these teams spend tonnes of time trying to drill into players of the position.

You can argue subjectives like you don't think his arm is where it needs to be, or you think running QBs are needed in today's game, or you think he is too fragile at this age....

But his skill is undeniable, even today, if given an serviceable oline.

He throws a damn good ball too.

Now, if he has some serious issue at this point in his career, like he crumbles too fast when pressure is applied around the pocket...I can get onboard with a red flag like that. But I'm not aware of any major issue like that. I'm not aware of his arm being an issue at all right now.

Seems like his only issue is mobility and owners don't like his negotiating tactics.

I would say that calling a player of his caliber with no major issue other than mobility "not worth 20M" in today's QB market, is gaslighting. But I'm used to that tactic around here.

What major issue does he have other than owners collectively don't like him. He had a reputation when he was younger of maybe being an ***...but I think players like him today.

Mobility? Old and fragile? What issues does the guy have where you wouldn't want him steering the offense?

Sounds like he's winning if they are resorting to bad mouthing him.

All they can do at this point is collectively blacklist him.

My opinion is...he wouldn't be doing this if he didn't have suitors.

They want him to sign for 12 to 15M...he knows he could get 20

Makes a lot of sense for both parties. Rodgers obviously on his last legs, but he still managed a decent season last year.

I don't know what the Steelers are doing exactly, they just don't seem like a team likely to compete in the AFC, but will continue to be in the playoff mix with this signing

If Aaron Rodgers was put on a top shelf team with talent everywhere… He might be able to drive the bus.

But this is not the same AR as days gone by where he could carry average players around him. He is a shell of his former self, and his stay in Pittsburgh will definitely not end well.

Agreed. He is washed up. He is over 40 years old and blew an Achilles recently.

He’s not the same guy.

He had a serviceable line lol...a more then serviceable lol. He's bad. Why do you guys think no one tried to sign him but a desperate Steelers team? All these QB needy teams....no one wanted to sign him...Jets didn't want to keep him...why? I'm just realizing your name is FanofJerry.....we might be dealing with some from of brain damage so maybe i'm asking the wrong questions....

Probably, and not to sound as if I’m defending the Dallas FO at all, but I hear a lot about ‘investing first round capital in a QB’ around here, which Pit did in Pickett….which is proof that guarantees you nothing.
Since Pickett signed with the Steelers three years ago he’s 15-10 as a starter. 14-10 with the Steelers. In the last three season Rodgers has a losing record as a starter. If Rodgers can win more starts than he loses the Steelers will be pleased. If he can’t they should have just kept Pickett. Signing Rodgers doesn’t guarantee much, either.

...you know, I think its the drama he brings, the mandates he's been tied too. They are staying clear, I think.
That vax drama is over. Teams are just afraid because he's older and didnt do all that well in NY.

I think Rodgers is a paradox for this board and it's narrative...

So posters just resort to hate that involves moving goal posts.

Unless this board has quickly turned pro running QB(something Rodgers isn't now)...Rodgers does everything this board wants from Dak.

Age/fragile, immobile, personality...or use of team stats against him is all you can argue with. Everything else he checks the boxes of an elite pocket passer.

Immobile shouldn't matter in a passing league. Age...who cares if he is elite at driving the bus.

Steelers offensive game plans are junk.

He went where he could start and where he could get a check.

There aren’t many teams worse for him than the Steelers.

I think they’ve probably realized they prematurely gave up on Pickett…..should’ve given him more time.
