News: ESPN: Aaron Rodgers plans to sign with Steelers, sources say

Steelers have nothing to lose by playing him for 1 year. If nothing else, maybe he can mentor the young QBs.

I'm not sure you know what gaslighting is. Let's look at the facts:

He's 41 and will be 42 before the season is over
Over the last 3 years, his TDs are down, his interceptions are up, and his yards per attempt are down, and his sack rate is way up
He's had team/cohesion issues in his last two stops

NFL players age like vinegar, not wine. With that said, he's better than any QB on the Steelers roster, but that's due to mismanagement of their roster.
Assuming you aren't lying and those stats are accurate, even though sacks is not all a QB fault and could reflect on a bad oline, also that could have forced him to make bad throws that lead to INTs...especially if the Qb was trying to keep the team in the game....

At least you painted a picture.

I need to see how Rodgers acted last year in collapsed pockets. I do agree that old men seem to fold in collapsed pockets...and that could lead to loss of downs...especially 3rd and longs.

My point is that he is very skilled and most guys are trash. Maybe he is only valuable in a situation where the oline is stellar.

Edit - he comes across as a entitled prick

Take the issues with his family, his past girlfriends, his "personal issues to straighten out" and totally get the fact that the steelers have nothing to lose.

This short term contract tells me more about the Steelers doing this more so than Rodgers.

That said, when you look at what we're paying our current QB, as the old saying goes, one who lives in a glass house should not cast stones...

I went looking at the steelers forum out of curiosity (not a member there, but sometimes curious what fans think of their home team). I came across this comment... "Lurie cares about winning. Rooney cares about participation trophies."

Sound familiar? (this was a topic of when Pickett was traded to the birds because of course the fans were split on the Rodgers deal, but this topic was up even from 2023 and the QB "whack a mole" the steelers have been playing).

Rodgers still has zip on the ball with his throws, he will do well if he can be protected.
