ESPN Anchor: Peyton Manning and Jeff Saturday to Commanders likely

I can't picture Peyton as a Commander.. Maybe they sign Reggie Wayne as well.

They'll have the money to do it, they have like $50 mil in cap space.

Doesn't Shanny need a mobile QB to run his offense?
Thats what I would think. I'm not sure how good Peyton would be in that system and behind that oline.

As a fan perspective, having two Mannings in the same conference would be awesome.

But since we do not as of yet have a defense that is capable of playing a Manning tandem four times a year, it would indeed be a scary proposition.

Having four Top 10 QB's in the NFC East would make for a more interesting conference to watch. I say bring it on! Maybe better competition would make us step it up!

I hope not. I really, really hope not.

The only way I see it happening is if the Colts release him instead of trading him (like they previously stated).

In this case the numbers would really make a difference. Commanders are in a pretty good spot and ugh...

Why would you hope to not get the G.O.A.T?

Dumb dumb tweet by Bram Weinstein. And the tweet did NOT say Manning to the Skins, it said Skins will TRY HARD to get Manning IF he gets released (his contract is untradeable)

Why would Manning come to the Commanders of all team? Play his brother twice a year? Be a on a team still a few years away?

IF he actually is released he would end up in a place like San Fran, who is fully built

Why would you think he is the GOAT ?

Not to mention... why wouldn't you understand why not ?

He is on a short window if healthy, a shorter window if not. An expensive toy that is not needed for depth or the future. He very well could step in and lead the team to the superbowl. At the same time the guy could retire two weeks in.

He's got by far the best stats of any QB, multiple MVP's, and a Super Bowl.

I disagree.

First off, the Commanders are not as bad as you always make them seem to be.

And second, The Niners; even with a loss are not replacing Smith with an older QB than Smith.

Stats don't always tell the story.
MVPs are subjective not always objective.
Trent Dilfer has a SB ring. Big deal.

Do you think Robert Horry was worth big bucks when he went to the Lakers ? They didn't pay him big bucks. I think he had 4 rings at that point and was already known as "Big Shot Rob".

Horry was a role player, not a star like Manning.

Colts: Hey Snyder, let's trade. How 'bout Peyton for your next two 1st round picks.

Snyder: No, no - I've hired a GM now. I don't do these things anymo...Well, he is a hall of famer. And I do hate draft picks. That's pretty tempting. But isn't Manning 36 and coming off neck surgery?

Colts: Nah dude, just a stinger. You know you can't believe the media.

Snyder: The media is always against me! Still...we were going with this youth movement and trying to build the team the right way. Shanahan would be pissed.

Colts: Is Shanahan the owner? Tell ya what. I'll throw in our 5-time pro bowl Center Jeff Saturday who will be 37 years old for an extra 2nd rounder. I'm so new at this GM thing...golly I hope Irsay is okay with this.

Snyder: suh-weeeeet

..

Seriously, the Colts just hired a GM a few days ago. How is this even remotely plausible. True, the guy they hired is from the Eagles. I imagine after the McNabb botch, he's very aware of how stupid Washington is. Still, he has to move into his office first.

It baffles me that NFL fans do not understand Manning's contract is untradeable.

He will retire, be released or be starting for the Colts next year.

He will NOT be traded

I would find it quite funny if Colts were dumb enough to release him and he went to the Texans.....

So does Brett Favre. That doesn't mean he's the GOAT. It takes more than acculumating stats and MVPs and one Super Bowl to be the best. Like Favre, Manning came up small a lot in big situations.
