Good evening all, I don't know how to post links to articles and I know everyone hates Bleacher report but there is an article that sheds a little light on why the NFL is mad at the Cowboys and Commanders. It rehashes a few things already known but it also put out a few things I have not read about the owners and Mara doing back room deals. If anyone finds it please post it, it's an ESPN article but I found it there. Thanks

That was a really interesting article. I don't think the NFL or NFLPA stand a chance on this one.

Even if the arbitrator rules in favor of the Skins & Cowboy, reinstating the $36M and $10M taken illegally from these teams, isn't enough. Both teams were limited in signing FA players they wanted, but couldn't afford due to losing cap monies just befor FA started. Hopefully arbitrator can not only return both amounts to these teams, but is able to award some punitive damages to the other 30 teams. Also believe arbitrator should consider Mara's actions & involvement in punishing his 2 NFC East opponents.

Since arbitration isn't until May, we obviously aren't going to get an extra draft pick. At the very least, we should be given our full $10M back for use of any portion of it this year or carry over to 2013. Also believe, we should be awarded an ADDITIONAL $10M in cap monies in 2013 over what other 30 NFL teams are awarded. Admit hate the thought of the Skins getting that $36M back this year and an additional $36M in 2013. Am hoping arbitrator somehow works it so Skins only get $10M same as the Cowboys. Ha.

I'd also like to see the arbitrator somehow come up with an idea to deal with Mara's obvious effort to hinder development/improvement of 2 teams within NFC East. Maybe Cowboys & Skins should each be allowed to take 1 player from the Giants' roster who Giants signed in FA this year.

Is it just me or do you also want to just gouge Mara's ****ing eyeballs out? lol

And the truth comes out......................

The other owners are pissed at Dallas and Washington because they drove up the franchise number with inflated contracts and the cheap arse teams didnt want to pay the extra money (San Diego, I am looking at you).

I always knew this "competitive balance" argument was pure BS, this is just payback because the cheap arse owners got pissed that Dallas and Washington drove up the market price.

Now way in hell this stands up in arbitration unless this whole thing is rigged.

It really makes me wonder if something like this is going on behind the scenes, what other kind of back room deals are happening? And would all of the owners even know about? What if there is some kind of scheming by one group of owners against other teams? From what I've seen of John Mara, I wouldn't put it past him.

I fear this might be but a glimpse on the kind of stuff that happens behind closed doors that we are never supposed to know about.

I have no doubt you are right on the :money: about that.

I would not doubt that being the case one bit.

I hope we pull an Al Davis and take this as far as it will go (or at least threaten to)--the NFL does not want this to be a public trial with owners and NFL execs under oath

I agree. The NFL has gone down a path that it should never have gone, both in allowing an uncapped year in the first place, and then with these BS sanctions against two of the premier teams.

It is time to put these little demigods like Mara in their place and let them suffer the consequences of their pride.

I don't like Jerry Jones but he is not a man to screw with and I cannot imagine him taking this crap without a major fight. If the arbitrator rules in favor of the league then I hope it goes to the courts.

The unfortunate thing is that the NFL would likely be seen to have violated the antitrust laws and a lot of the way things have been done that have helped make the NFL so successful would be in serious jeopardy. But Mara and his ilk will have brought this on themselves so too bad.

Goodells weakness is that he is allowing Mara to be his downfall....the public is now seeing internal dissension within the NFL which doesn't ever bode well for the head (Goodell)

Regardless of what the arbitrator rules the damage is already done.
If we get the cap room back it will be long after the FA pool was picked dry so what good is it?

Even if (or should i say when) the NFL loses this it won't matter much they already achieved their goal of hurting the us and the Skins in FA and that can't be undone now

I doubt anything will be done, somehow things will stay as they are. At best they will get the cap momey back, but nothing further.
Possibly an outside chance Mara and any others involved get some kind of fine.

Unless Jones and Snyder and somehow solidly prove the loss of this money kept them from signing certain FA's, and how would they prove it. Did they actively and aggressively pursue...say...Nicks or Grubbs, but couldn't sign them. Did it keep them from resignig Robinson, would have they paid him what the Jaguars paid him if they had this extra cap space.

I also doubt any future draft picks are awarded, if so, they won't be in the top 3 rounds most likely.

It will be, here's your money, but we're not sorry....haha, it's the competitive advantage the Giants need to win the division again.

Unused cap room can be rolled into the next year.

So effectively it gives us an extra $10 million in cap space next year.

His weakness is that he lacks intelligence.

The owners look REAL bad on this one...except Jerry of course :laugh2:

collusion pure and simple.

followed by a bribe to the players association to go along with it even though most of the teams won't spend the additional cap money given to them for the bribe.

end of the penalty followed by adding to the cap next season and or a draft pick or two.

Washington really got hosed on this one as they had already given up their drafts for Griffin and planned on using free agency to build.

In my opinion, the owners really stepped in it on this one. And I don't know what the NFLPA is doing. I think they are just so embarrassed by the bad deal they got in the CBA that they are agreeing to this to get the overall cap number up.

Might help down the road as this definitely shows collusion.

However, it is interesting to see how things shake out after the fact. People certainly went to extremes to portray the players as lawsuit happy and the owners wanting to negotiate in good faith. Doesn't really seem to be the case.
