DANA POINT, Calif. -- Bill Belichick and Wade Phillips were the only two head coaches who declined NFL Network's request for interviews, according to a league source. Belichick isn't attending the NFL owners' meeting and Phillips has been observing a Jerry Jones gag order this offseason.

But as we first reported Sunday, Phillips will make an appearance at the NFC coaches' breakfast Wednesday. I known many of you will be gathered around your laptops to see what he says, so I'll try to be quick.

In other news, NFL "spouse Pilates" begins in an hour. If you're in the area -- and married to a current NFL head coach -- it's probably worth checking out.

Wasn't that long ago Belicheat was thought of as Wade is now. Defensive guru who can't handle head coaching duties.

Add a lot of scowls, a beat up, stained, fresh out the double-wide, cut up sweat shirt and Tom Brady... VIOLA!!!! Hall of Fame baby!

Long as Wade keeps his gums shut I like the move.

When they get to camp he can ask the players to do the same with full knowledge that he has done so for months now.

Bill was considerably younger then than Wade is now

Anytime I see Belicheat and Wade mentioned together, I always think of how Nors claimed that Little Bill said on local radio that the two toughest playcallers/strategists he went against were Shanahan and Phillips.

That won't dent his homer force field.

Not sure that applies at all since it is irrelevant to the point.

Belichick is clearly a better coach but perception is also quite fickle.

Wade has about as many years a head coach right now as Belichick did when he got the Pats job. Years as a head coach matters far more to me than age.

People thought Payton Manning was a loser and choke artist until what year 9 in the NFL??

The only way you shut up idiots is by winning. Or you can't and prove them right. Wade is on the fast tack to proving his doubters correct but he was also one play 2 years ago away from shedding a lot of monkies.

I would be perfectly happy if Wade never said another word.

He's not the voice of the franchise anyway. And when he does talk, he either 1) says nothing very interesting; or 2) embarrasses himself with weak excuses.

Just coach the defense, Wade.

Jerry will do all the talking.
