Burnett
Cowboys unrestricted free-agent linebacker Kevin Burnett has talked to the Texans, Raiders and Chargers, but nothing close to an offer has materialized. Burnett's agent had indicated that a trip to Green Bay might occur, but that hasn't panned out.

The Cowboys might be making a mistake by letting a talented player like Burnett walk, but at least for the time being, there's not much of a market for him. He'd be wise to sign a one-year deal like the one safety Sean Jones agreed to with the Eagles. If he starts and plays well, a team would probably try to lock him down in a long-term deal. If he plays a reserve role, he can take his chances again in free agency -- in what could be an uncapped year.

i thought he'd been to visit green bay but the $$$$$$$ he wanted were not even in the same ballpark that the Packers were willing to pay him.
He has NO market right now. If he wants to go to Oakland, be on a losing team for the lifetime of his contract then i bid farewell to him, but in all reality he should take a 3 year 6m deal with dallas like brooking did.

Lately Jerry or Stephen has been making the right calls on who to let walk, who to sign, who to cut. Maybe a page has turned in his development?

If a free agent falls on the market and there's nobody around to hear him, does he actually make a sound?

A one year deal in Dallas makes too much sense, so it probably will not happen.

Edit: Burnett should sign with a team that will let him start. Dallas is a dead end.

There are plenty of teams that would give him a chance to start, but no one is going to give it to him, and they certainly aren't going to give him starter's money.

The facts are that he's never been a starter in Dallas; he's a young guy with no pro experience in a 4-3; and he has a hard time making it through a season healthy even as a part timer.

That all plays in our favor. I think he can start, and I think he'll continue to play well in Dallas...we just shouldn't be the team that pays him starters' money either.

Since he's showing no loyalty to us I wouldn't show any to him. He would find his spot taken when he returns to us empty-handed.

Huh? If he can stay healthy (which admittedly, is a big if)... he only has Brooking in front of him.

Burnett should come back and sign a 1 or 2 year contract.

If he plays well enough, he can legitimately beat out Brooking. It's not like JJ has paid Brooking big time starter money.

And if Burnett can beat out Brooking and play well, there's no reason why he can't go back into FA and make even bigger bucks after 1 or 2 years.
