ROBERT BREWSTER

Position: Tackle
Height: 6-4. Weight: 320
College: Ball State
How acquired: Third round pick, 2009

Robert Brewster Brewster still needs work from a technique standpoint and must get stronger. What he did in 2010: Brewster was on the practice squad since October after spending four weeks on the active roster. His only impact came during the preseason. When the Cowboys were down three offensive linemen, including both tackles, Brewster had to start at tackle vs. San Diego. There were questions of then-coach Wade Phillips about sitting Tony Romofor the Chargers game with Brewster starting. Brewster didn't play that badly and Romo survived without getting hit. But it was clear Brewster, despite his second season in the league, just wasn't ready to play full-time...

It would be great if Brewster could make the transition this year. Still wondering if he's better suited to OG though.

I hear all sorts of things about Brewster that go from stud to dud. I guess we find out at camp this year. If he does not show serious promise then he is a dud. Its time for him to step up.

Agreed. This may be his final chance with the Cowboys, at least.

I've got to think we're going to get at least 1 OL in FA plus draft another 1-2.

I would not be adverse to a full B 52 carpet bombing on the O line. 4 or 5 picks.

I wouldn't mind something like a pair of Gabe Carimi OT Wisconsin and
Baylor OT/ OG Danny Watkins on the mantle.

Perhaps we hear something about him out of mini camps. His body should be much different and perhaps he can be a player. It would be nice to "hit" on a OL draft pick.

His best chance of staying with the team is probably at OG since he seems to be behind both Young and Pennell at OT.

Brewster is bust. For him to be drafted as high as he was to basically end up on the practice squad (which is reserved for long-shot projects), how else can you see this pick other than a bust?

The only reason that I think he may have a chance is that he was basically injured his rookie year so that would have slowed his progress. And he came from a relatively smaller school as well, so he could have used the work.

But chances are that he's probably a JAG.

He needs to show something this year for sure.

I think he has a chance, but just a long-shot one. I have no expectations for him in 2011. If he can manage to stay on the practice squad that will be an accomplishemnt for him. And hopefully by 2012 he can make the active roster at least as a backup.

Brewster was a fat sack of potatoes. He better be a hell of a lot stronger and leaner at the start of training camp or I would cut his sorry butt on the first day of camp.

No doubt Dallas needs Brewster to step up. We have to be able to rely on him be it as a starter or depth but I can't see another season of being inactive and having a roster spot on the team

How can they continue to miss so badly on high OL picks? I mean the practice squad? and he cleared waivers without any takers? We all want the team to draft O-linemen but whose to say they don't get a bunch of projects yet again and we see them on the streets or in other uniforms inside of a two year time span?

NO MORE PROJECTS!!!

The fact that he was cut outright as a 3rd round pick and nobody claimed him says it all. Teams around the league don't even think he has potential and that's just sad. Guys like Rob Petitti and James Marten were claimed by other teams.

OL is a boom or bust position--every college team has 5 of them and they are all 6'4" and 300+ pounds. Lots of first and second round busts--and just as many that live up to their expectations. I think the Boys problem has as much to do with coaching as it does drafting. The OL must be the smartest and the meanest players onthe team--ours have been neither.

Last year we heard how he re-made his body in the off season. Yikes if that was a make over, what did he look like before? He looked like a fat, uncoordinated slob in pre season.

They said he was only half way there. I saw him without his shirt last year too. He was a fat load of crap. He clearly had lost a lot of blubber, but he was still packing way more than he should have. (yes, even for an offensive lineman)

Brewster was not in NFL playing shape.

Bingo, definition of a bust. We should hire some OL draft/FA specialist - pay the guy a fortune, something has to change.

Except when you do that you end of with bad picks because you reached for a need. It has been epic fail every time we try anything like that
