Breaking down Tyrone Crawford's contract

Crawford’s cap number this season will be $2.828 million and jump to $8.75 million. The Cowboys have restructured contracts in the past of players to gain cap space over the years. The fact that Crawford does not turn 26 until November makes him a candidate to have the bulk of his $6.75 million base salary in 2016 reduced and the difference turned into signing bonus for cap purposes.

There are no incentives or escalators in the deal. At the time of the signing, he is guaranteed $17.4 million. His 2017 base salary ($7.25 million) is guaranteed for injury but becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the ’17 league year.

Here is the breakdown of Crawford’s deal:

Signing bonus: $10 million

2015 base salary: $675,000 ($2.828 million cap figure)

2016 base salary: $6.75 million ($8.75 million cap figure)

2017 base salary: $7.25 million ($9.25 million cap figure)

2018 base salary: $6 million ($8 million cap figure)

2019 base salary: $7 million ($9 million cap figure)

2020 base salary: $8 million ($8 million cap figure)

Good deal for both sides. Crawford is set for life at age 25 and if he plays reasonably to the level they expect this is a good contract for the team. Doubly so because if necessary they can cut him after 3 years without a ton of cap damage.

Seems like a good deal to me.. *shrug*

Great spread of the money. I can see lots of things that can be done with his contract as the years go and he exceeds his worth, year by year.

I hope....

Take that extra money to Vegas baby !!!

I just may, although it is so much easier to gamble online now, right?
Fanduel is just peaches when you want to take candy from babies.

What about the town, the buildings, the lights, the strip clubs ? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems fair for both sides especially if he has not peaked his talent at this point in time. This is an amazing story especially when you throw in his achilles surgery, something must of changed with that procedure as it used to be a career ender. Here's to him staying healthful and productive all season.
I know that is mean to say right now but we are about to knock the chip off the NFL east's shoulder. I am glad to have T Crawford on our side especially once he is teamed up with Hardy and McClain in week 5.

I think its a great deal. I'm glad that we didn't lowball him like we did with Ratcliff.

People forget that Crawford saw constant double teams last year because he was so disruptive - which would have allowed our ends single coverage.

Now that we have ends that can bring the heat like Gregory and Lawrence were going to see this Dline wreck havoc.

Less offseason drama next year like it was this year. Just need to win the Super Bowl this year and then get Hardy resigned for next year !

This is a steal. Had Dallas waited they would've had to overpay for Crawford. Had a very good season last year. Not a lot of sacks, but he got close a number of times and with more help on the edge TC will get some sacks this season. He's quick, athletic, good motor, strong, and has excellent technique.
