ESPN Clayton: Cowboys Camp Observations

I don't want him to be a jack of all trades. I want him to be a ST player. Only.

I'd rather have him as a backup than some of the other guys. I am sure his versatility was a key to his signing. You want your game day actives to participate on specials and back up several positions.

What is your beef with Boiman?

He had a rep as a bit of a pass rusher in college.

Funny how the kicker is not an issue all of a sudden. Even with a kicker who pooched the AFC Championship game winning kick.

Ummm let's see... We went from 3 kickers making 71% of their kicks to a guy who's got the highest FG percentage in NFL history. I'd say it's not an issue.

Hell, someone get me a job at ESPN. Not only can I spew the same obvious garbage Clayton does on an hourly basis, but I am one of only 3 men alive who can correctly diagram a 30-yard slant.

I've seen this referenced a lot here. No doubt it's a fantastic inside joke that was held sometime during one of my absenses. Please enlighten.:

You really don't want to go there.

...some of the articles have been so fluffy, this one included, I'm surprised that they haven't focused on Vandy's age or the fact that he choked in one of the biggest games for Indy.

Oddly, for one of the biggest signings of the offseason and the price paid, we haven't had more articles about the negative aspects of Vanderjagt.

It's probably because he is Canadian.:

What's negative?? He missed one last second game tying kick? If we had only missed one of those game deciding kicks last year we would have won 2 more games and made the playoffs.

Oh, he's a "drunk idiot" kicker? That's from the mouth of Peyton Manning who was trying to get back at Vandy. Vandy basically challenged Payton's toughness and fire. Last I checked Peyton has yet to win "the big game." Vandy still makes 88%, and I've never seen him stumbling drunk onto the football field.

And the fact that he's old has little to do with his abilities. Kickers last a lot longer than your normal football player. They're not exactly in danger of being injured every play. If he had some injury problems recently I could see the concern, but he hasn't. Give me a 30 something kicker who makes 88% of his kicks any day. You can keep your 20 something UDFA kickers or high school kicking coaches.

Witten is now one of the leaders on the offense, but he still can't escape Parcells' talk about his former tight ends. "I've heard every Bavaro-Coates story there is," Witten said.

Witten is already better than both those guys ever were IMO..
