News: ESPN: Cooper Rush gets No. 2 QB reps for first time in Cowboys camp

I can't help but wonder how Linehan feels about Rush getting the lion's share of the practice reps. I'm thinking that the FO and staff might have voted on the pecking order being changed to what it is today. It would seem Linehan would have agreed to the change if he admits to the truth that Rush has substantially outdone Moore. In any case, the die is cast. Hopefully, things might continue to stand as is. Thank you, Jesus!

Romo got 3 years of development before he was called on. We can give Cooper 3-4 years to develop. If he turns into something special, this league is so STARVED for good QB's we'd be in a great situation.

I'd keep him. The temptation would be to trade him after a year or two, but we've had it graphically proven to us what not having a good back up QB can do to your entire season.

Go Rush!

Finally the coaches are showing a little bravery instead of waiting for Kellen Moore to get hurt again.

Considering how many young players are on this team playing including Dak, I don't think the coaches lack bravery.

Y'all are making me think every undrafted player on this team is a future star. But I'm loving it.

Cowboys giving undrafted rookie a shot at No. 2 QB job

According to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys let undrafted rookie Cooper Rush take snaps with the second offense Monday.

It’s seemingly a recognition that Kellen Moore has struggled mightily and that Rush himself has played well. Rush completed 8-of-9 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns against the Colts Saturday, for a 148.8 passer rating that jumps off the page. Moore was 10-of-21 for 131 yards (67.8) and lost a fumble which was returned for a touchdown.

Owner Jerry Jones wasn’t rushing Rush into the backup job Saturday night, however.

“I’m just glad to see Rush taking advantage of his opportunities out there,” Jones said. “We wouldn’t want to get ahead of ourselves, in any way here. We have a lot of confidence in 17 [Moore].”

and well he should

You can just hear it now....Rush steps back, receives a GREAT block by Jonathan Cooper, throws to the side to Switzer, flips back to Rush, he steps up and launches a 40 perfect strike to Rico Gathers, TOUCHDOWN!!!

Does that cover all of the offensive hype guys?
Except Rod Smith lol

Cooper Rush gets No. 2 QB reps for first time in Cowboys camp

FRISCO, Texas -- Have the Dallas Cowboys opened up a competition for the backup spot to Dak Prescott?

For the first time this summer, Cooper Rush took second-team snaps over Kellen Moore, a byproduct of how well the undrafted rookie has played in three preseason games. The two split the second-team work, with Moore getting eight snaps and Rush getting 13 after taking over in the end-of-practice situational work.

Rush has completed 26 of 38 passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns. Moore, who entered camp as No. 2, has completed 30 of 55 passes for 382 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Jason Garrett did not address the media Monday, but in the Cowboys' 14 padded practices in Oxnard, California, Moore followed Prescott in every team drill.

It's getting fun ....again! Good move for us.

Before I get too excited about this news, I'm going to wait and see if Moore gets reps with the 1st team offense. Perhaps the Cowboys want to see how the backups perform with different units and personnel groups?
