With all the negative attention surrounding vick, pacman jones, tank johnson, of course T.O comes up in the topic of conversation om ESPN's 1st and Ten, and of course skip bayless is predicting a week 5 implosion by owens. The guy has been a saint this offseason keeeping his name out of the headlines, but ESPN always has to find away to keep him in the news.......... but of course they will spin it as owens loving the attention, or he brings this upon himself...........sickening.

T.O. has done nothing to compare with the others .........those are law breaking things.

I agree in general, but Skip Bayless is the one guy who just never ceases to irritate me. I get annoyed when people complain about Troy being anti-Cowboy or if someone doesn't rank us very well. But Bayless consistently uses his TV appearances as a platform to bash the Cowboys. Even if he never made any accusations about a former qb of ours I'd hate him.

I just hardly ever agree with anything that comes out of Skip's mouth. It always seems like he has no idea what he's talking about and just making it up off the top of his head. Even when it isn't about the cowboys at all.

Actually that is one my favorite things about this forum...along with a bunch of other stuff.
I'm glad I am not the only one who is tired of ESPN's lazy journalism.

Media carping is lazy and dumb. They ***** about the critics, but are more or less mute whenever ESPN throws a valentine our way. Their needle is firmly stuck on "outrage." They sit and wait for perceived "slights." It gets old.

I'm one of the critics but I try to give credit when it's due. My view comes from the fact that a LOT of the media do very little work to make a story and merely regurgitate the line "de jeur." They frequently screw up the most basic facts. Those errors may occasionally be the result of a simple mistake, but more often than not they come from an obvious lack of rigor in their craft. So, I'll continue to bash the quality of their work when I feel it deserves it. Prisco's latest piece is an excellent example of poor work IMO. The reason I feel that way is the quite different treatment afforded Randy Moss vs TO. Neither view is nothing more than opinionated blather with ZERO facts in support of his "informed" opinion. I could go on but I won't bother.

I didn't see the Bayless segment so I can't comment on it, but generally speaking TO has had a quiet offseason. We'll see what happens but any bashing of TO right now qualifies as low hanging fruit on a slow news day.

One of the things that bugs me the most about the National media and the Cowboys is the treatment of Jerry Jones.
I know a lot of Cowboy fans of Landry who will never forgive Jerry for how he handled Landry when he got the team but the national media does not have that excuse.
I continually hear how Jerry hired Phillips so he can be the coach or something along those lines.
It not only is a cheap shot at Jerry but also at Wade Phillips.
Chirs Mortenson told about how Jerry targeted Phillips as a coaching candidate when Parcells was still mulling over if he was coming back or not.
To listen to the ESPN talk shows though you would think that Jerry just chose him so he could control him.

Oh well if it weren't for the Cowboys and or Owens, Skid Clueless wouldn't be employed, he works the Cowboys and or Owens in almost every episode of FT.

With T.O. I guess it's always possible that he'll have 5 implosions in a week, but atleast T.O. won't kill 5 dogs execution style in a week and he won't do 5 drive by shootings in a week.

I agree that Bayless is a jerk but if Dallas wants respect from the media then they need to go out and earn that respect. During the 90's run Dallas got a lot of positive media attention and that will return once the Cowboys give them something positive to talk about.

All I know is that when Owens showed up to OTA far ahead of his rehab on his finger and didn't speak to the media, what did we get from the press?

"Owens showed up to the OTA's and didn't speak to the press to show it is all about him."

I could also go into the comparisons of how the media treated Norv being hired by the Chargers over how they treated Wade getting hired by Jerry as well. But I think the former says a lot of how the media loves to rag the Cowboys, even the local Dallas media.

Skip 'Balless' has always hated Dallas. We know what he is in the useless department. He makes his living off of hating Dallas. That's why he is hired, by the media hatin cowboys stations. But BSPN with what little respect I have left is even less now, like in the negative below zero respect. Now they are briniging up TO in a conversation about thugs and criminals. Where has TO ever did anything against the law. Well, that's expected from them and Skip.
