Cowboys odds and ends
September, 6, 2010 Sep 62:14PM CTEmail Print Comments By Calvin WatkinsIRVING -- A few things we noticed from the 30 minute media opportunity that was given to watch practice.
1. Dez Bryant is fielding punts and kickoffs.
The Cowboys want to get their best players on the field and Bryant appears one of them. Not only is he the No. 3 receiver but he was fielding punts and kick returns during the special teams portion of practice on Monday. Bryant is getting backed up by Felix Jones and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah on kick returns. Kevin Ogletree backed up Bryant on punts.
2. Chris Boniol is still here.
When the Cowboys hired Boniol it was to work with kicker David Buehler during training camp. His status for the regular season is uncertain, but Boniol was helping, at least for now, on the special teams unit.
3. Jersey and locker changes
Bryant's stall was moved from next to Montrae Holland to near Deon Anderson. A few jersey numbers also changed. Sean Lissemore is 95, Josh Brent is 92, Scott Chandler is 86 and Cliff Louis is 78.Share Tags

No practice for Kyle Kosier, Marc Colombo
September, 6, 2010 Sep 62:06PM CTEmail Print Comments By Calvin WatkinsIRVING -- The first regular-season practice is under way, and two offensive line starters, Kyle Kosier and Marc Colombo, missed things as they still recover from knee injuries.
Both players, with their right knees wrapped, did rehab work while Montrae Holland (guard) and Alex Barron (tackle) got reps with the first team.
Roy Williams, who missed last Tuesday's full practice with a lower back strain and a hip flexor, returned to practice.
Keith Brooking (shoulder), Marcus Spears (knee) and Gerald Sensabaugh (shoulder) also practiced.
