IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys are not going to the extremes the Miami Dolphins will go to in keeping their rookies off the field entirely, but coach Jason Garrett will alter the rookie minicamp schedule this weekend.

The Cowboys are scheduled to have a morning walk-through plus an afternoon practice. In the past, the Cowboys have put the players through two-a-day practices. New Miami coach Adam Gase will not have his players on the field at all for the Dolphins’ three-day minicamp, choosing to focus on mental preparation.

The workload is taxing for players coming off the draft process and they are often not in the best condition. Add in the heat and humidity in the area, and injuries have been an issue in the past.

I assume the Dolphins are not trying anyone out at their minicamp, unless they are going to just keep the smart ones.

It was 90 degrees today in Tampa. In Miami it was hotter. I don't blame them for sitting them out. Like the article says some of them guys haven't been on the field in 4 months

Smart move. But the players need to take advantage of the mental work and get their bodies in shape because it's not gonna be any cooler later in the summer
