IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys worked out six players on Tuesday at Valley Ranch, signing one to the practice squad. Cornerbacks Ryan Steed, Junior Mertile, Peyton Thompson, defensive tackle David Carter and wide receivers Jamar Newsome and Dwight Jones worked out. Only Newsome, who was on the Kansas City Chiefs roster at the end of the 2012 season, was signed to the practice squad. He played in two games last season catching five passes for 73 yards.
