ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said last week he was ready for the regular-season opener against the New York Giants. He showed Saturday he wasn’t kidding.

Prescott completed 11 of 14 passes for 113 yards and a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten in the Cowboys' 24-20 win against the Oakland Raiders.

Prescott's numbers could have been better if not for two penalties on the offensive line that wiped out first-down completions to Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams. He connected six times for 74 yards to Witten, including a 28-yarder down the seam.

I didn't expect Jourdan Lewis and Chidobe to be great in their rookie seasons but their injuries might really set back their development.

Byron Jones doesn't look like he's gotten any better.

Everyone that isn't a homer knows Heath is terrible.

I don't even want to talk about the pass rush.

At least we should get some exciting, high scoring games.

The Cowboys went 13-3 with a worse defense last year.
how are they better this year?

You replaced McClain with Paea and Claiborne with Carroll. I expect Maliek Collins to be a little better but that's about it.

I am one of the biggest critics of this defense and am very nervous this year also but did the defense show cracks tonight? Really the only big play was the cooper play and it looked in the stadium like brown thought he had help and really just let cooper go and got beat, the way he did last year with desean jackson on turkey day.

I thought the defense hung in there and played well against a team with a better offense than any they will see outside of green bay and atlanta all season. This raiders offense is going to be terrific.

thats what happen when so much of your starting dline is suspended. Randy Gregory a second round draft pick too busy smoking pot. Suspended for the year. Irving suspended for atleast 4 games, maybe more. Its like come on guys. Get on the field. Our 2nd and 3rd round corners are missing valuable time in the tub.

i think the defensive line is playing well and we do not even know the rotation of how this will go yet. Looks like the best group on defense even with the suspensions.

The secondary looks like garbage, hopefully it is just because it is preseason.

The talk of Rod getting his type of players so we can play more zone has me scared, QBs are too good these days to rely heavily on zone in my opinion.

Carroll is a prime example of this apparent shift to more zone. He's not good.

I'm curious what this is based on. The defense has been great on 3rd downs this summer and got beat for a big play tonight when the secondary was confused.

Needs to be stated that they have only played one qb but there is no preparing for these games anyway so its just team running plays.

Scandrick is back, brown isn't a rookie. Heath is better than church, etc. the defense is better than last year
