It might be more correct to say the Cowboys settled on Prescott.
"We got such great feedback from the coaches who had worked with him all week long at the Senior Bowl, and that's really what we felt when we had a chance to visit with him," Garrett said. "It's the same feedback that we got from his coaches down at Mississippi State, same feedback we got when Wade Wilson went down there, the experience we had with him at the combine and also at Valley Ranch. So he's a really quality person. He's going to work really hard each and every day to take advantage of his chances."
At the private workout in Starkville, Wilson was impressed with how Prescott threw the ball and how he processed information. He wasn't thrilled with how Prescott worked under center, since he worked so much out of the shotgun in the Bulldogs' offense, but it was much better than what he saw at the combine.
But Prescott impressed Wilson more when they shared a lunch. It was not long after that Prescott was arrested for driving under the influence, a charge for which he eventually was found not guilty.
"You saw him in his own environment," Wilson said. "We went to lunch and you could see how people reacted to him downtown. He's a big man down there. This was even after the DUI thing that popped up and everybody was still very supportive of him."
