Peyton (Dallas)

Compare Wade Phillips style to Jason Garrets for us

Bryan Broaddus (11:35 AM)

Garrett's attention to detail is quite impressive. I have spoken with several members of the front office and they have nothing but praise for Garrett in how prepared he is for this job. We will see in due time.

Bill In DC (Washington, DC)

With regard to the rpevious 'question' about the GM in Vegas. That actually offers me encouragement that Jerry may finally be stepping back.My question is, when that day comes and Stephen becomes the lead, do you see him hiring a GM or will he attempt to run the team the way his Dad has?

Bryan Broaddus (12:14 PM)

Stephen will make an outstanding GM one day...I really enjoyed my time with him...Parcells use to go to Stephen all the time with issues...he has a very good head on his shoulders...

The part that really caught my eye was the potential for Scandrick to play Safety. Very interesting observation from a former scout. Wonder if he and Ball would both benefit from that switch. I like what I've seen so far from Barry Church though.

What are your thoughts on the new DC?

Firey guy...gets your attention...wonder if scheme wise he tries to protect this secondary more and play less man coverage and put them in zone.
That's exactly what I'd do. I don't think they have enough players to run man coverage very well, and it's not like what they're doing now is working anyway.

You really should have BALL SKILLS to play FS. Scandrick hasn't displayed any over the past few years.

Maybe they see something different in practice with Scandrick playing facing the QB instead of his back to the QB

just as a fwiw... i actually read this article over at the site all the way through which makes a first... lol.

broadus has actual knowledge.

Zone requires awareness and communication among teammates neither of which the team have shown so far. It may be the reason that Wade didn't play zone because he didn't coach his players to play "smart". It's easier to tell the players that this is your guy, now cover him.

The problem with running zone is when your safeties don't know where to be and your inside linebackers are slow it's quite easy to exploit.

Church is more of a SS, while Scandrick fits the mold, size wise, as a FS.

True, but they have run zone at times. It's not like they don't know how.

Can't be any worse than what they're doing now, and right now, according to opposing teams, the Cowboys man coverage is about as predictable as it gets.

The Cowboys wanted to move him to Safety a few seasons ago.

He was not receptive to the move.

Scandrick isn't afraid of contact and he's a good tackler so he should be moved to Safety. He's a student of the game, but he's not a quick burst athlete and has slow reaction times when a WR makes a break.

The only reason he's the Nickel CB is because Jenkns has never done that job and Newman kept coming up with leg injuries while he was doing it.

I think McCann has plenty of quickness and speed to try out for he Nickel at some point. He just has to prove he's a sure tackler.
