ESPN Dallas: Cowboys have dress code for home games

IRVING -- Not only was there a dress code for road games, the Cowboys have one for home games as well.

Players are required to wear slacks, collared shirt and dress shoes for Sunday's game vs. the Detroit Lions at Cowboys Stadium.

And guess what? Cowboys officials are telling players not to wear sneakers and jeans to Arlington.

ok discipline is a good thing. but how are u going to tell a grown man how to dress? i dont get it. so if they go with jeans and sneakers they wont play good?

I'm a grown man, and the place I work has a dress code. That dress code helps build what is the culture at our office, and yes, that culture does have an impact on the way we work.

This team flat out stank it up for the first half of the season. Change is needed, and changes are being made. Maybe them dressing up a bit more will lend a little more respect for what they represent. I doubt it will make a difference for all of them, but I bet it impacts some. Perhaps a more professional dress code will lead to a bit more professionalism from the players. After all, this is the pro level.

This a business, act like it. Most places of business have a dress code you need to follow.

I see nothing wrong with this at all and those thinking it's just about the threads cant be more wrong.

It's about following rules and taking pride in yourself and the product you represent.

If it helps alter the mind-set of the team, then it is needed.

Don't knock the details. Coaches use a lot of mundane (seemingly unnecessary things) to get their teams to focus on their job.

These guys played bad because they gave up on their head coach and the way he led this team. A new coach has been named, and he is changing the way this team is run. Like I said, changes are being made, and I think they will have an impact on some of the players.

I never wrote, or even implied that they sucked this year solely because of the way they came dressed to the game. But you go ahead and read it anyway you want I guess.

The NFL requires players and coaches to be in sideline attire sponsored by NFL Equipment/Reebok during games.

It's not like the early 90s when Troy would be on the sidelines in literal street clothes when injured, like jeans and a polo shirt.

The first thing I did when I got my stipend from my college in my first semester was go out and buy a suit. I went to S&K Menswear and they had a sale -- two suits for $250, I think. Anyway, I got a black pinstripe and a gray suit. It was a very wise investment because it makes me look serious and competent when I'm around people who could be my future employers.

Of course, being military like you are, they provide you a pretty stylin' suit to begin with that no tailor can emulate for a civilian like me.
