IRVING, Texas -- Interim coach Jason Garrett intends to discuss postgame autograph protocol with Tashard Choice.

However, Garrett isn't angry that Choice asked Eagles quarterback Michael Vick to sign his glove moments after the Cowboys' loss Sunday night.

Perhaps Garrett believes Choice could have picked a better time and more private place to make that request. Garrett didn't go into detail on that matter.

But Garrett did staunchly defend his third-year running back, who has been heavily criticized for the request caught by NBC's cameras. Garrett emphasized Choice's competitiveness and commitment to football.

great.....this cancer is spreading.

garrett and choice better hope the justin beiber concert isnt on sunday....what will they do?

I do not see what the big deal is especially since it was for his 2 year old nephew. Yes, he should have done it in a more private setting. It kind of reminds me of a soccer player asking for Zendine Zadon's (sp) autograph and the press was all over him until they found out that it was for his ailing father who last wish was to get the famous soccer player autograph. The father died a week later.

On a personal level, I'm disappointed Tashard Choice and his family don't have enough sense to dissuade this younger family member from admiring a dog-killing SOB like Michael Vick.

On a media relations level, I'm disappointed Tashard Choice didn't pick a better time to do this so it wouldn't cause such a firestorm.

But here's the thing: if we bust off a 8-1 record next year and Choice has 600 yards rushing and some memorable highlights en route, none of us will remember this.

So, in that regard, I know where to put this in proper context. It's only a big deal because A) we lost and B) we're having such a tumultuous year. It's done and now we should focus on those contemptible Commanders.

I'm not sure which controversy is more dumb -- this one or the one about Tony wearing his hat backwards.

Agreed......All I have heard or seen from other NFL players on it is that it happens all the time. Some even ask for jerseys or equipment for their own memorabilia displays.

It is or should be a non-issue..

Well isn't that what nearly EVERYONE is saying? I don't think anyone thinks Choice should be burning Vick in effigy in the locker room (well, a few nimrods around these parts might, but...). Just that you don't walk into the field after losing to your rival at home in front of your fans looking to get autographs...

Hat backwards, by a mile. He may look like a Gomer, but so did Deion in half of his outfits... always liked Vinny Testaverde's outfits, he looked like a 30's mafia tough in his hat and suits...

Tony's hat wins easily. Weather I agree or not, people can at least argue a moral high ground with the Vick thing. Internet fashion police are pointlessly annoying.

Such a non-story. After we smashed the Rams in 2007, Torry Holt asked T.O. for his jersey so he could frame it. And this was on the field during post-game handshakes.

Funny how that never developed into a "story".

I have a hard time believing this is even an issue. Talk about making a big deal out of nothing.

No joke.

You don't even need to ask boxers or briefs of the people upset over this. You already know it's a lace thong.

I'm actually pretty shocked so many people see no problem with the way he did it whatsoever. It's actually kind of interesting.

Why you see players pray with each other after the game. Key word here is it is a game. Yes they are paid they also show sportsmanship. The problem is fans who think this is life or death it is not maybe people need to look themselfs in the mirror instead of nit picking every single thing others do.

Exactly. It's not the fact that he asked for the autograph. It was the timing.

I see players getting autographs left and right...but they don't do it on the middle of the field 30 seconds after the game is over. People (staff) are in place to cater these types of requests.

Why do you think the NFL grants the players a 15-minute cool down period before speaking to the media? It's because players are going to be either very upset or jubilant following a game...especially a supposed rivalry game.

EDIT: In other words, I agree with what Garrett said.

Well, it might have been unclear before this morning about whether what Choice did was appropriate or inappropriate. Now, however, it's crystal clear that he did nothing wrong or even marginally incorrect.

The proof: the Dallas press is all over him for his "bad Choice" (get it?). That group makes the guys in the Coors Light commercials seem like incisive football gurus.

This was the only part that disappointed me.

EXACTLY, absolutley nothing wrong with his intent, I think he did an awesome thing for his nephew. HOWEVER, there is a time, and place, for everything. In the end the Media, will blow everything out of porportion.

Good intentions -vs- lack of situational (media)awareness = critizism of TC.

This is a teachable moment for Choice, thankfully it was only an autograph
