IRVING, Texas -- An achy back caused right tackle Marc Colombo to miss Wednesday’s practice.

He’s expected to practice Thursday and play Sunday, but the Cowboys better be prepared to give Colombo help against the Packers.

Wade Phillips said Colombo’s back has been bothering him. His knees will give him trouble the rest of his career. That’s part of the reason why he struggles against pure speed rushers.

It might help Colombo, who has allowed three sacks and committed three false starts in six games, if the Cowboys try to establish the run to the right side early in the game.

Single game sack record is about to be set. Get your popcorn ready.

It's a pretty crummy deal that Gurode can forget the snap count, not snap the ball when he's supposed to, have everybody else on the entire offense move before the ball is snapped, but Colombo gets called for the "false start" because he's on the end of the line by the head linesman. They should come up with some way to charge that penalty to the center instead of whichever unfortunate offensive tackle happens to be on the wrong side of the field.

Taking a step beyond stats, I wonder how much having the recently signed off the practice squad left guard had to do with an inability to run? There could be a considerable amount of dysfunction that was added with Costa. I know, blame doesn't rest on him, but that affects the line play.

Then, as games develop, having three, yea a stat in the making, balls clunk off a receiver and into an interception. Take the one where Leonard Davis drove his man almost a mountain's ten yards off the ball only to place that defensive tackle into place to make the clunker off of Miles Austin's hands.

Having to press the entire season, behind such insane and not ordinary turning points has aggrivated precision and the mental process for the entire and frustrated offensive line. Such as Davis doing a Herculean effort only for it actually paying huge dividends for the opponent. That has to be a telling consideration as well.

Here is what I like about Clay Matthews -- he makes his presence known on every play. They rush him from every position and on every play he is whirling dervish of roid-rage fueled chaos.

At this point I see him as the Defensive MVP unless he has an injury or someone else really emerges.

He doesn't stop until the whistle, even when double-teamed or blocked well, his effort continues, so he gets hits and pressures and sometimes cleanup sacks.

That is the very thing that I think has been missing from DWare since he signed his new contract because he used to run around and chase plays full speed down the field in his first few years.

I liked Clay coming out, but some thought he was too small to play in the 3-4. But hey, at least we got Roy Williams.

They should call it more often like this:

Hey Kitna... health insurance... buy it.

I'm pretty sure that's written into player contracts and provided by the team :laugh1:

On the plus side, we'll most likely get to see what McGee has to offer after Kitna gets murdered.

At Lambeau field, against a blitz happy defense, with two injured offensive lineman and one that just sucks...That's not too difficult a situation for your first NFL game ever

You paint a pretty grim picture....
