IRVING, Texas -- Terry McAulay’s crew will work Sunday’s game between the Cowboys and Philadelphia a week after they worked the intense Pittsburgh-Baltimore game in which they threw 19 flags.

Eighteen penalties were accepted. But this crew let a couple of helmet-to-helmet hits go that led to fines from the NFL, so look for them to be highly sensitive to those plays Sunday.

Here’s the penalty breakdown:

Offensive holding – 5
False start – 4
Delay of game – 1
Kick formation – 1
Illegal contact – 1
Defensive holding – 1
Neutral zone infraction – 1
Offside, free kick – 1
Illegal formation – 1
Player out of bounds on punt – 1
Defensive pass interference – 2

I think its interesting the flags have largely stayed in the pockets of the refs after that ridiculous flag-fest against us earlier this year.

I always assumed it was because we started having the refs come in for our practices.

It's also interesting that we had a 1-7 start, and have since gone 3-1 against some pretty good teams.

McAuley's ref team has always seemed to be a little flag happy. Though if the refs are at least consistent in their calling, that's the best you can hope for.

NFL fans want to see exciting plays; not great plays called back because of dirty yellow laundry.
