ORLANDO -- Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said the organization doesn't have anything to announce regarding training camp, yet.

But it's painfully obvious the Cowboys will open camp in San Antonio, play the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, and then complete their training camp in Oxnard, Calif. The Cowboys might have a brief stop in Dallas or San Antonio before going to California, depending on when the second preseason game is scheduled.

One thing we know, the Cowboys are expected to play the Houston Texans in their fourth preseason game.

Wade Phillips said the extra practice time and the fifth preseason game has some benefits.

"We have a lot of young players we think are developing or need to develop," Phillips said. "We had a whole class last year injured. Those guys get to play and we we get to see more of them."

Phillips said some veterans get to relax a little bit more, which is a good thing when it comes time to seeing what some of these younger players can do.

Making the trek to the West Coast is not like flying to London or anything. But it can wear down players, being away from home for such a long time. Phillips said that's part of the job.

"I think our team has to have that type of mentality," he said. "They have to be adjustable enough if it's in training camp. ... We had that last year [in practice sites]. We had to bus to here and there and those kinds of things. It was something you have to deal with because you're gonna have to deal with that if you’re the Dallas Cowboys no matter what."
