SAN ANTONIO -- Injuries to linebacker Keith Brooking (hamstring) and running back Tashard Choice (calf) might lead the Cowboys to slowing down some of their practices.

It seems all the running toward the back end of the three-hour afternoon session is taking it's toll on some players. Dez Bryant, Mike Jenkins, Kevin Ogletree and Titus Ryan seemed a little gimpy during practice sessions. None of the players mentioned missed any time, but Jenkins needed his left ankle re-tapped.

However, with Brooking and Choice getting hurt on back-to-back days during afternoon sessions it raised some concerns about how the Cowboys are doing things under coach Jason Garrett.

Holy ****, no coach can win with this media.

Not intense enough with Wade, too intense with Garrett...

What exactly is good for them?

Don't count on JG slowing practice down.

Yup, i don't know what Watkins has been watching but the guys have been gassed the last three days. These guys are out of condition and slowing down isn't going to get them better. Cardio is one of the things you can work every day.

Guys like Lee, Smith and AOA need all the reps they can get.

Put on the earphones, and turn up the dial Red. Just go Jimmy Johnson on this team.

If you click the link, it's actually coming from Jerry and co.

It sounded like it was coming from Jerry. He said that the trainers liked what was going on but Jerry questioned them about factoring in the amount of work they were doing.

Even with that being said, I still don't see JG slowing it down. I have complete confidence that JG knows what this team needs and that's hard work... He's gonna keep the heat on..

I've been saying this for the past 8 years.

Thankfully, I am confident that Garrett knows how to handle it.

"We need to watch that," Jerry Jones said. "Keith was in good shape when we got back [from the lockout]. So the point is we're all talking about it and really giving a lot of consideration to what if any of that, just working on their own is impacting these tears."

He is talking about the impact that them working out on their own has had. Not intimating shortening practice.

"There's more activity in these practices," Jones said. "There's less standing around. I was talking to our trainers about that. They said we like that better. I said, 'Are you factoring in the amount of work we're doing?' Now we had a pretty pressure situation coming in here, then doing their sprints late in the afternoon, when we got in Wednesday, turning around and having a little more active early practice, then having the long practice the next day. Within a short period of hours, that's a lot of action."

I come to a different conclusion reading that. Everything that i have ever heard has been the idea that if you warm your muscles up and allow them to cool down and then try to restart that is where the problems are. The trainers know what they are talking about.

the players are gimpy and gassed because of muscle fatigue. Good rest, hydration, proper diet to replace glucose, and monitor the individual. Sounds like the right approach.

In a three hour practice, start and stop repeatedly is not a good idea.

Anyone have a decoder ring handy?

Many of the "injured" are those that we didn't hear attended Tony's work outs. I think they were a lot more important that some believed.

Sound to me like he is saying that the poor conditioning they came in with is what the problem is.

i personally love cardio but most guys especially really big guys don't. i am sure that most if not all of them were diligent in lifting but not all of them were diligent in running.

they certainly were not diligent in maintaining their flexibility. that much was obvious from watching them stretch out at the beginning of practice.

When he talks about Brooking being in such good shape?

No, it sounds like Jerry is wondering about these guys getting hurt... Just like when he squawked when Hatcher pulled a hamstring and he got so mad at Stewart.

What impact working out on their own has on these tears....

That is a good point about Hatcher.

Is it a good idea to go full speed so soon? I think conditioning should have been the focus this week. Players working out on their own and getting in football shape are different.
