IRVING -- In the last two days we've seen Brandon Williams moved up the depth chart to the first-team units on special teams and Jason Williams and Leon Williams moved to the scout units.

Brandon Williams has been inactive all season and might become active for the first time in his NFL career since he was a fourth-round pick from Texas Tech in 2009.

Phillips said Brandon Williams has an excellent first step as a pass rusher, but he's not consistent enough to spell any of the outside pass rushers.

The Cowboys, last in kickoff coverage, need a boost of some kind. Moving players around on the kickoff coverage is one way to solve the issue.

Jason Williams and Leon Williams haven't had a big impact on special teams.

At least they're trying to shuffle the deck. The same old hand is played out.

(Damn I need to go to the boats ;) )

Maybe some new blood will make a difference on special teams. It can't get any worse, can it?

They can, but what does it hurt at this point? 1-5 anymore dangerous than 1-4. At least this says "the Cowboys might be hurting but we want to create a spark to teh rest of the players" Now it might not do any good and they are doing what i suggested, just showcase the other guys for the new coach. I dont know personally, but i know a spark or a kick in the butt wont hurt the team regardless so you might as well try something.

Does anyone else think that the NFL getting rid of the wedge has really put Joe D at a loss? I seem to recall how he re-shaped his kickoff coverage teams by putting more faster guys out there because you didn't need as many bigger guys to bust the wedge.

I think the new team is just getting overwhelmed physically.

What's so perplexing is that the punt coverage unit and the kick-off coverage units are basically the same players. The punt team hasn't been as porous, maybe McBriar is the difference maker on punts.

I believe McBriar is the difference. He gets great hangtime, and I think that's partly why Buehler's kicks are short, Coach D wants him to get some hangtime so his coverage teams can get down there.

should just tell Beuhler to boom them all the time; this directional crap aint working.

IRVING -- The Cowboys wanted to make changes to the special teams units and they had no choice but look within, so out is Jason Williams and in is another Williams, Brandon Williams.

Brandon Williams will make his NFL debut on Monday night vs. the New York Giants after missing all of last season with a knee injury and becoming inactive for the first five games of this year.

Williams will participate on the kickoff and kickoff coverage units.

The Fort Worth native who attended Texas Tech is excited about the opportunity because the wait tested his patience.

"All I could do is be patient and wait for my knee to heal up," Brandon Williams said after Cowboys' practice on Friday. "I haven't been 100 percent anyway, so this is my opportunity to come out and play."
