I wonder what ES thinks about this.

:)

Of course, this is just another example of anti-Dallas bias by ESPN. All they do is rag on us, never compliment us, underrate us, etc.

:)

For the record, I think San Diego has the best Secondary. I do think we are top 3 though IF the depth plays to their talent level.

Their corners are very, very good, no doubt(Jammer, Cromartie, and they drafted a gem in this year's first round). But their safeties are pretty bad. They're not as bad as Roy, but they've been consistently subpar.

I can live with Roy's poor coverage skills. My big gripe with him is that he just HASN'T played with much HEART the last couple of years.

Those times when he DID, our D would just follow in his footsteps. And when he didn't, likewise. Remember the GB game last year when he came out on fire? Our D played with even more fire. Then there was the Giants' playoff game where he was lethargic...so was our D.

This is his make or break year. If he doesn't play like a top safety I imagine he will be cut.

He was one of my favorite players for his first three years and arguably our best defender. Now the only thing he does that reminds me of him is suite up for the Cowboys with R.Williams on his jersey.

If he plays at the level he is capable of its over for everyone in our path and the Doomsday Bells will start banging very loudly once uh-gain.

And if we can stay healthy. Injuries to both starting CB's really hurt us last year.

Yep-Wade was forced to play more zone coverages than usual b/c of just that.

At the same time, throughout the stretch Newman/Henry were banged up, we were fortunate to have some cream-puff opponents(i.e. Fins with a washed up QB, Bears with a final life-line to Gross-MAN, Rams with a banged up QB + a rookie RB from Rutgers, Vikings with Tavaris, and the Giants game 2 where Burress was hobbling/Steve Smith && Derrick Ward didn't play).

This year-we're going to have a very tough schedule out of the gate-which is why our depth at this position couldn't have come at a better time. Overall-I really like our depth at alot of the key positions this year.

For me it's easy; we subtracted Reeves and added Jones, Jenkins and Scandrick. Both of our starting corners will be returing fully healthy, which wasn't the case last year. All of our players should be more comfortable with the new defense, which also wasn't the case last year. When all is said and done, we added much more than we subtracted, something many of the other highly regarded teams last year cannot say. I could care less about offseason rankings.

I still have to see Jones re-instated and Jenkins produce before I factor them. Until we see this unit as a whole produce, I'll still have them #3 behind SD and Indy.
Have you even looked at SDs depth? They have nothing but a rookie taken after Jenkins and a supplemental draft pick from last year that didn't play and a couple of STs players. Indy really doesn't have any top talent(at corner) they just play the Tampa 2 zone and rely on their pass rush.

Couldn't participate in the thread over at ES. I have one more day left on my vacation.;)

Interesting how not one poster bothered to critique the 6-8 players ESPN considered when they ranked the Cowboys #1.

You'd think someone would take the time and compare the Cowboys to say the Raiders, Colts and Bears to make the argument that they do or don't belong in that company.

Any takers?

I have to agree with that. Health is key.

They also went from releasing Clinton Hart(one of their safeties) to signing him back.

Hart wasn't a very good one to begin with, even when Wade was coaching their D.

Obviously-they're desperate to sign ANYONE in that position.

Unless you cant form an unbiased opinion because of homerism, you know SD had the best secondary in the league the second half of the season. And what makes the Colts secondary so good is the stack of playmakers, but the way they play team defense. They got the best linebackers at coverage and they're the fastest defense in football and the only thing their secondary lacks is height.

I could swear the rankings were about this upcoming season, not the second half of last year.

And they lost Florence, who is at least decent. We lost Reeves, who is awful.

I am getting nervous when we get so much praise from ESPN.

Again, look at their depth at corner(let alone their safeties) and tell me how they are the top secondary this year. Their top candidate for third corner is a rookie and you have already said that they don't count. Their second candidate would be a supplemental pick from last year that didn't play. The other guys our jags who played STs last year. Get the picture?

Super Bowl or Bust eh?

:laugh2:

This is the new Commander fans mantra for Dallas. You guys really can't say much negative about a team stacked as well as we are besides the two things you all always say: 1. Haven't won playoffs in twelve years and, 2. Super bowl or bust.

Really, you aren't putting any more pressure on us. If we fall short of the super bowl this year... no big deal because we'll have all of our young stars here next year too. And the next, and the next, and the next.

Face it, Dallas is stacked for a good, long run deep into the playoffs (including a franchise QB) for the forseeable future and you Commander fans have a division-side seat to watch us go on our run.

You ought to be worrying about your new coach (the only guy in the continental U.S. who would take the job) and not spouting off extremeskins only resort to try to bother Cowboy fans.

I would like to see Mike Seller just run through Pac-man to give him his welcome back package.. Dallas is a JOKE!!! I hope that Mike see's this and make it happen...F**k Dallas....

like Mike Sellers has run over anyone in his life, I remember he got stopped twice on the goalline in one game, in fact I can recall at least 3 instances where they needed a yard or 2, and gave it to Sellers, and he was stopped
