OXNARD, Calif. -- A Dallas Cowboys defense starved for playmakers desperately needs linebacker Rolando McClain to come close to fulfilling the potential he had as the eighth overall pick in the 2010 draft. That would require McClain, a 25-year-old who has retired from the game twice, to have some semblance of passion for the sport. The Cowboys basically talked McClain off the couch when they made a no-risk trade to acquire his rights from the Baltimore Ravens with the hope that he’d earn the right to replace the injured Sean Lee as the starting middle linebacker.
