IRVING, Texas -- Five Wonders is usually a Tuesday staple during the regular season, but after Saturday's final cuts we decided to break it out on Sunday. For the first time since 2011 with Stephen McGee the Cowboys have kept three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster with Dustin Vaughan joining Tony Romo and Brandon Weeden. I wonder if the Cowboys did not want to risk losing Vaughan at the final cuts and might look to cut him in the next day or two after the opposing teams settle their roster.

On Tuesday I expect the Cowboys to put rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence on injured reserve with a designation to return. Lawrence can't go on that list sooner than Tuesday. I wonder if the Cowboys look to bring back Kenneth Boatright or Dartwan Bush to the active roster. Boatright and Bush were among the final cuts and also practice-squad eligible. To me, I would put Boatright on the active roster because he has more pass rush. Even with the addition of Lavar Edwards, I don't see enough natural pass-rushers on this roster.

I'm tired of hearing the special teams excuse on Ryan Williams. They could have kept him inactive until Murray gets injured and then he could probably have been the #1 or #2 RB and then Special Teams is not that big of a deal. I realize that there are lots of RBs that were cut and will get claimed before Williams (Seastrunk, etc..), but considering the injury history of Murray and Dunbar and even Randle now has some minor injury, I would have wanted to be prepared.

I do get that OTs are more valuable than RBs in the modern NFL, but not FBs and DEs that have yet to practice and are not scheduled to even play in week 1 and probably longer.

They could have brought a FB back after D. Lawrence goes on DFR-IR. They could even cut a guy like Spencer until he's ready to play. He's not subject to waivers and the Cowboys are probably offering him more money than anybody else. He would only have to be cut between Saturday and Tuesday when D-Law goes on the DFR-IR.

If Boatright/Bush clear waivers I don't see the point in not putting them on the Practice Squad. They currently have 7 DEs with 2 injured. Do they need more than 5 DE options?

He will clear waivers and be put on the practice squad. Then he can be brought up if Murray gets injured.

Maybe, but it seems like a risk considering that Murray and Dunbar always get injured at some point. It seems like keeping 4 RBs would almost be automatic when the top 2 are Murray and Dunbar.

Byrd being cut is the biggest wonder to me. A wonder in the sense of "What were they thinking..." Clutts on the 53 would be the second biggest wonder. You got to be kidding me. I don't get this idiotic FB love.

THIS ^ x100. I can see Ryan Williams making it through waivers. But highhhhhly doubt Byrd will. Some team desperate for receivers will snag him before he clears the waiver list.

It's kind of funny, if not for the defensive line/linebacker dilemmas...this team has a lot of players that have value moving forward. That, and some other teams are watching the discards or attempts at hiding as well.
