Who Will the Cowboys Select With the Browns' Pick?

I don't think it's any secret that Jerry Jones wants this guy. And he looks like he has a little Clinton Portis in him with that costume.

Clinton Portis, Jerry Jones

Darren McFadden Is A Clown

Remember those crazy qoutes about Darren McFadden that came out during the SEC Media Days in July? Just in case you don't, here is a little refresher:

"Last Halloween, the most recognizable 19-year-old in the state went to his classes in complete disguise. Wearing a clown suit, complete with rainbow wig, oversized glasses, a fake cigar, striped shirt, enormous yellow pants and wide suspenders, McFadden could have struck a Heisman pose and still remained anonymous."

Man, that sounds hysterical. Too bad no pictures ever turned up of tha...wait, you found what?

That's right, here is Darren McFadden in all his be-clowned glory. Enjoy. (Click for a larger version)

Below is most recent mock draft I've seen and it's projecting McFadden as the #1 overall pick. It's also projecting that the Cowboys have the 5th pick in the first round courtesy of the Browns and that we select a S. Can't say I'm wild about using such a high pick even on a position of real need -- unless of course Hamlin turns out to the FS we've been looking for or Watkins really steps it up this season.

If the price for McFadden is much too high (both our first rounders plus more), I'd rather draft the best CB we can find, best RB, best WR, best NT with that Cleveland pick. We'd stay have our lower first rounder to add another good player along with our 2nd rounder. We might even be able trade down a few spots and still get the desired player we want but also pick up a second or third rounder.

I seriously doubt we'd use #5 overall on a safety. If we used it on defense at all, I think it would be on a front seven player or a corner.

But is this guy that good? Next Ed Reed or Sean Taylor? I must confess to a peplaw-like moment when I saw the picture of him.:

But hey... Jonathan Stewart with our second 1st rounder sounds pretty good.

The Browns are one injury away from being arguably the least talented team in football, and if Quinn gets a significant amount of PT, especially early on, their season could go south in a hurry.

I just PRAY that we can get McFadden, the guy has the potential to be not just great, but one of the greatest EVER. He will only be 21 when he is drafted next year, he is 6'2", 215 and runs a legit 4.35 in the 40 and has the best stiff arm since Earl Campbell.

So McFadden dresses up for Halloween(apparently not the only one judging by the pick, probably a party? Its not like he's in full out Bozo wear either)and he gets compared to Portis for being weird? Tabloid journalism at its finest.

I would bet money that if he did the same thing portis did, but did it while being a cowboy...most of those that picked on portis for doing it, would not mind it for McFadden.

Me...I don't mind it for portis as it is just something fun and good for morale.

Just saying.

Just like how the majority hated TO, but man some people got an attitude whiplash when Dallas signed him.

I agree even the Portis stuff isn't that big a deal. Just that this one seems even a bigger stretch.

Believe me, he's THAT GOOD. That said, i wouldn't trade a chance at DMac or Slaton to take ANY S, especially if Hamlin turns out to be the player he was before he met a street sign. JJ will be gone and the same assessment Scott gave for the Giants taking Slaton applies to the Cowboys and MB3. Slaton would team PERFECTLY with MB3 and TT. DMac first but if he's gone we take Slaton. Slaton will be twice the playmaker JJ is. I just don't think we will get one of the first 2 picks out of Clevelands, and that's what it will take to get DMac IMHO.

I'd be underwhelmed by that draft, not bad, but a S and 2nd-tier RB? naw

I've read quite a bit on how McFadden likes to do things very similar to Portis. It's not an unfair comparison.

I'd use the hammer smiley, but I don't want to look for it. Totally agree.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Fans are supposed to slam hated rivals players. Then back them if that same player goes to your team. There is no such thing as a double standard in fandom.

By then end of the college season people may very well be talking about this kid as the next Steve Jackson.

I was for McFadden at first.. but now im looking into the current situation we are in.. if JJ and MB3 have a good year this year why should we get McFadden??? he will be asking for too much anyways.. we need to focus on WR, CB, DT

If this came true, and we missed on McFadden...I wouldnt mind trying to trade down with New England and take Frank Okam, Limas Sweed or Early Doucet, and Antoine Cason with our three first round picks.

Those mock drafts are a joke, they have no real value...Dallas will not use a potential top 5 pick on a safety!
